Spring is here and that means it’s time for the One Room Challenge! If you’re unfamiliar with the One Room Challenge, Linda from Calling it Home asks a group of 20 design bloggers to makeover a room in 6 weeks, blogging about their progress along the way. There is also a link up every Thursday that the rest of us can join in on and participate as well. This will be my third time joining in the ORC link up and I already have an area in our home picked out for the fall ORC as well! To see my past ORC challenges, you can check out the kids bathroom, sexy master bedroom and master bathroom!

This time we’re taking things outside and on a very limited budget! I know, a spring project in Minnesota is a little risky, especially considering that two years ago on May 1st we had a storm dump 15 inches of snow on us and this was what our back deck looked like just two weeks ago!

We are looking to make our back yard an oasis, a place to hang out with our family and friends where we can enjoy the beautiful Minnesota summer. Follow along over the next six weeks as we transform this worn down area into a place perfect for entertaining, grilling, relaxing, reading or playing games, all while on a tight budget!
Our deck is a good size and we love the outdoor space it provides for us. Facing South it tends to get sun most of the day which is great except for the stain doesn’t last more than two summers.

We already have a large gazebo that we plan to put up again this year and make two separate areas, a seating area and an eating area.

We are cooking up some ideas for this little space. The electrical is for a hot tub but we won’t be using that so I think it’s going buh-bye and making way for something more practical.

I have a pin board started already with some great ideas for backyard spaces not just decks and patios but landscaping and gardening, above ground pool ideas, diy patio furniture and decor too so be sure and check that out if you are looking to spruce up your backyard living space.
I’ll be back next Thursday to share some inspiration and an idea board for our space! DO NOT forget to head over to Calling It Home and check out all the fun!!!
EEEEEP! You are gonna make it look fantabulous just in time for my visit.
Yes, I am still coming.
Lol! Yes, because your front porch is fabulous and I want you to enjoy some backyard sitting here. Can’t wait!
