Kids Bathroom Reveal & Details

May 13, 2014

Read Time:1 Minute, 34 Second

Last week I shared the Kids Bathroom Reveal.  Today I wanted to share the cost breakdown and some more before and after photos.  When we first moved in, the bathroom like the rest of the home was beige and oak.   This is one of the only photos I can find from the week we moved in.

I painted the trim white, we replaced the flat oak doors with some six panel doors that are currently white, took down the green leaf towel holders and then made the mistake of painting a bright orange in the bathroom.  Thank goodness that bad decision only cost me $4 out of pocket for the paint which was horrible paint and didn’t go on very well at all.

Thankfully, after participating in the One Room Challenge Link Party, we have a new and improved kids bathroom after to share!

We installed board and batten with hooks for towels.

Cost Breakdown:

2 gallons of paint – $13 total  (both cans were oops paint, one was $4 and one was $9)  This is the code on the paint can, I can NOT guarantee that this is correct as it was OOPS paint.

Shower Curtain – $20  Circo Warm Rugby Stripe not available at Target  online but is in some stores.  Also they have a Circo Cool Rugby stripe online but is currently unavailable.   I have had a few people ask about the shower curtain, you might want to check ebay as they had a few on there last time I looked.

Towels – $14 (Target)

Picture Frames – $24 (Kohls)

Knobs – $22 (Hobby Lobby)

Beadboard, Board/Batten & Trim – $70

Accessories – $22

New light fixture – $20 (Lowes clearance) but I sold our light fixture on CL for $20 so I really spent $0 on the new light.  🙂

Grand Total – $185

Hi Amy, The paint is an oops paint special from Menards so there is no color on it. I could try and give you a code if you want!

How far up the wall is your moulding? I want to do this but can’t decide what a good height is!

      Hi Kristen,
The moulding is 62 inches from the floor, that includes the top piece so the vertical battens are 54 inches from the trim. Hope this helps!

We are currently fostering to adopt a little boy after only having girls so we had to switch up the bathroom to make it a boy/girl bathroom. This scheme was perfect! I was obsessing (ha!) about finding that exact shower curtain. I looked online and on e-bay for 3 months. One day I got lucky while I was at Target and they had it on their clearance rack. I paid 56 cents for it! (And to your reader looking for hooks, I found those exact ones at Lowes). Thanks for the inspiration!

Erica, It was from target but is not in stores anymore. I would check online like ebay for it. Maybe try rugby striped shower curtain as a search.
