Pinerly?

I saw an interesting link this morning on facebook.  The girls At The Picket Fence were sharing a link for Pinerly.  It’s a management/organization dashboard for your pins.  The downside is, you need five friends to sign up to get early access.  The girls of course already had five friends sign up because they are awesome and they also planned to give us a review of Pinerly.  I signed up as well so if you want to sign up you can use my link to sign up.

Have you heard of Pinerly?  Anyone on there already?   Do you think we need help managing our pins?  If so I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

Happy Saturday friends~

Spaces I’m Loving Right Now

Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite pins. I’m laid up on the couch right now with some horrible head pain and possible sinus infection so looking at some gorgeous spaces is my medicine for the day.

All of these spaces have white walls with pops of color except for one.  I am obviously drawn to gold and blue as almost every pin has one or the other color in it.  I love geometric pattern like the ceiling in the first picture, pins five and six have awesome walls and even the furniture in most of the pics like the last one and the one with the blue couch.  The one thing I oddly enough don’t want in my house is white walls.  With four kids and two dogs I feel like white walls would soon become some sort of crazy looking canvas of hand and paw prints mixed with cheetoh, peanut butter and chocolate chip stains.  I need to remind myself how the IKEA ektorp couch experience worked out for us and now I will assure you, my walls will NOT be white anytime soon. Do you have white walls and children?   Have you gone insane yet over the smudges and dirt?  Am I too anal?  Ok wait, don’t answer the last question!

If you spend all your money, chances are……

Your furnace will quit working on the coldest day of the year.

Last week my husband had lasik eye surgery and we paid the $3100 out of pocket for the surgery. The money will be reimbursed through our med flex account but that won’t be for about a month.

While waiting for the furnace guy to come, I spent some time browsing pinterest and finding pictures of things that are cozy and warm.

I did pin these super cute slippers but they just didn’t seem very cozy.

Then I found my slippers from Wal-Mart and yes, they are cozy. I know, not as cute the ones above but they are warm, fuzzy and were only $12.

This hat was listed under my search of cozy things on Pinterest….if it gets cold enough I might just wear this or maybe if we decide to play that we live in Russia.  My kids are always pretending they live in different countries.

Typing the word “cozy” into a Pinterest search will turn up something interesting, guranteed. Like this gun…..I’m not sure cozy is the word I would use to describe it.  Strange would be more like it.

The house is at 64 degrees right now and has been most of the day so it’s not really all that chilly in here, I’m just thinking that tonight if our furnace isn’t it fixed we will either be popsicles in our beds tonight or looking for somewhere warmer to sleep.

I have had a busy few weeks but later this week I’ll share the new family room look and other rearranging that I’ve done.  What have you been up to this week?  Are you motivated to your home clean and organized or are you still struggling to find motivation after the busy holiday season?

Art for My Bedroom & Paint by Numbers

While working on my 2012 House Goals post yesterday, I was inspired and then pinspired to find art for the Master Bedroom.  I was thinking that maybe an oil painting of a ship on the stormy sea would look good over the dresser. After searching the good ol’ internet for a bit, I found a picture that reminded me of a painting my grandparents used to have in their guest bedroom.

Follow this rabbit trail with me for a second, it will all make sense. For some reason it made me think of Bob Ross. I love Bob Ross, I remember when I was four years old watching him in the hospital after I had my tonsils out.  The big hair, his smiling face, the calming voice, the great verbage such as “Happy Little Trees” I mean really, what’s not to love about Bob Ross?

After thinking about Bob, I was reminded of paint by numbers.

I loved doing paint by numbers as a kid, some of them can look really cool and I need some cheap art, so it sounds like a great solution to my art dilemma.

Here are a few great paint by numbers I found and pinned for inspiration.  I must be on a large bird kick as well as ships on the sea.

I was always creeped out by the clown ones, they just look way too happy to be wearing makeup and ruffles!

Maybe I will become Paint by Number obsessed and apparently I will even be able to do them while going to the bathroom, that is multitasking at it’s finest right there!

I love how they look with a big chunky frame around them, gives them a vintage feel.

Who wouldn’t love a Gallery Wall of Paint by Numbers, especially if you didn’t have to paint them all?

This one is my favorite Pin of the day, I love it!

Have you ever done a paint by number?  Do these leaving you feeling inspired to create your own art work even if it’s not a paint by number?

If you don’t hear from me for a while, it’s because I’m busy creating a gallery wall of paint by number art!  It could also be since I am the proud new owner of a Canon t3i,  I have no idea how to use it and I’m knee deep in the user manual.   I’ll be back to post my House Goals for 2012 this week and highlight some of the great links from the 2011 Year in Review Party!  Today is the last day to link up so get your post ready and come join the party.

Christmas Gift Ideas from Pinterest

Happy Thursday everyone! I’ve been busy working on some posts but nothing I can post right now.  I really wanted to share with you today some pins that I have found recently that may help with your Christmas shopping.  Especially if you have a person  on your list that has everything or is hard to buy for.

But first, we interrupt this post for a special Public Service Announcement:

Now onto the gift ideas!
This sleeping bag is perfect for that outdoorsy person in your life.  Maybe they like camping deep in the woods with no one else around.  This would be a great disguise so they don’t get eaten by a bear in their tent.  It could also be used for a rug in your home in the off season.

Are your children tired of playing with their Loving Family Dollhouse or Barbies? Maybe it’s time for this one, the Hoarder Dollhouse.

Just think, there is no cleanup after they are done playing with it!  How easy is that!  Maybe it will also teach them if they don’t pick up after themselves, this could be their real house one day.

Have that single friend or relative that just wants someone to cuddle with at night? Here’s a perfect solution!

No bad morning breath to wake up to either!

Have someone looking for an Apple computer? Maybe your teenager is heading off to college in the fall and they want a mac. Here you go, a cheap and easy solution for that expensive person on your list.

Here’s a perfect gift to put under the tree just for you. A sweater that you can hide in, especially when those creepy relatives want to give you a big wet kiss. Or maybe you’re embarrassed that your fruitcake didn’t turn out this year. What better place to hide than in your own shirt yet you can still have that drink you need.

I would not recommend wearing this if you need to make a quick getaway, it looks hard to run in.

Finally, if you are doing more of a homemade Christmas theme this year and you’re good at knitting or crocheting, why not make a pair or three of these?

Stylish and cheap, they even have belt loops and pockets!

Ok, for reals people I have all these great pins that make me laugh and I just had to do this!  Do you have a board just for things that make you laugh?  I do!  Some are inappropriate but they make me laugh and there’s nothing better than a good laugh at the end of the day!  I’ll be back with a real post soon!

Pinspiration Color Palette

I am so excited to share this with you this morning.  Since moving in June, I’ve been working on a few rooms but have never really had a flow or one piece that just represents the color palette for this house.  Well this pin pretty much has it all. The gold, black, blue, white and coral all together and I love it! We have a winner! DING DING DING!

I finally figured this out yesterday and I’m so happy. I’ve been unsure of what way to go with so many things and now I know! Here is how this came about.  I was a bad girl yesterday. I started out putting up lovely green frog tape around the doors in my Master Bedroom and it was going along swimmingly.  I was planning on getting that nasty oak trim painted with primer and then hopefully another coat of primer later in the day. I was interrupted by the bub’s waking up so I stopped taping and we went down into the kitchen for some breakfast.  Then I happened to walk into the dining room and had a thought, what if I brought the original buffet back into the dining room and moved the black one into the basement? From there the rest of the day just went right to the dining room. I had the hubby help me bring up the buffet from the basement and immediately I liked it in there. Then I decided it needed a paint job because it was pretty banged up from moving. Another aha moment, I have coral paint in the garage and what if I painted the trim around the edges gold? Maybe the black lamps from our bedroom would look great on this buffet. Maybe Pinterest has something to help the hubby visualize this color scheme. Of course they did and I was a pinning fool.

The Dining Room Pinspiration and I LOVE this first picture:

Here is some of my Pinspiration from yesterday for our Master Bedroom with the navy walls. I can’t wait to paint the white trim today. For reals. Unless of course I find something else to distract me.

The cloffice was the starting point for this color combo of blue, gold, white and coral.

The Powder Room and Family Room are also already joining in the color palette togetherness and I didn’t even know or try it! I love when that happens!!!  Obviously the family room needs a lot of work yet but it’s a starting point!

Do you have a color palette for your home?  Does it all mix and mingle together?  Now my only question is, would gray cabinets in the kitchen just throw this all out the window?

I’m linking up here, come join me!

Master Bedroom Roomspiration Style

Welcome to another round of Roomspiration! It’s time for the Master Bedroom link party today hosted by the lovely Rachel from Just a Touch of Gray. I can’t wait to go see all the awesomeness that everyone is linking up because I could use some Roomspiration in the bedroom! Don’t tell the hubby! (wink, wink.)

There has been so much awesomeness linked up over the past two weeks, you should really just go check it all out! Here is the schedule of previous Roomspiration posts and next week will sadly be the end of the party.

Entryways – Abode Love
Living Rooms – View Along the Way
Bathrooms – Homemaker on a Dime
Guest Bedrooms – DIY by Design
Craft Rooms -  Family Brings Joy
Dining Rooms – Involving Color
Nurseries – a la mode

Our master bedroom is not blog worthy at the moment but hopefully it will be in a few months. Right now the walls remind me of the color of poop with maybe a hint of purple in certain light. I’m not really fond of the color and would like something a little more romantic.
I know that upholstered headboards are all the rage right now and I do love them but this fun design caught my eye.

We have some nightstands but are hoping to find something that has three drawers and is more like a small dresser.

We have a white shabby chic Comforter that I found at Target on clearance for $22. Have I ever told you how much I love Target clearance?   I really enjoy white bedding, it makes it really easy to mix in color and patterns.

I am loving the gray color scheme right now but I’m not sure where we’ll really go with our bedroom.  Here is some eye candy from Pinterest that I love to look at when I think of Master Bedrooms.

I have this pinned three times on my Master Bedroom board so I obviously like this room.

I also love color in the bedroom, especially the blues mixed with gold!

I could add so many more bedrooms, there are just a ton of different styles I love and it’s going to be hard deciding on what to do in our bedroom. I just want a room that feels calm, relaxing and peaceful with a touch of romance! Do you love your master bedroom? What do you love or hate about it? I’d love to hear from you! I did a series on Master Bedrooms a few months ago on why your Master Bedroom isn’t just for sleeping in. It’s a great reminder on how to keep our bedroom a sanctuary for our marriages along with some great tips on how to keep the flame burning for your hubby as well!

Also, I will be hosting Roomspirations on Monday when I reveal the new Cloffice. I scored an awesome desk off CL yesterday and can’t wait to show you! I hope you’ll come back and link up your closets and nooks! Do you have a fun space in your home that you use for reading, crafting or an office? Do you have well organized closets that make your friends and family jealous when you open the door? What’s in your closets? Come back on Monday and link up with me!

Guest Bedrooms

Today is the start of another great week of Roomspiration!

Are you having as much fun as I am checking out all the cool rooms being linked up and also, even better, meeting new bloggers? If you missed last week’s Roomspiration link ups, no worries! The blog links are open until October 14th so there is plenty of time to link up and also check out all the awesomeness being posted. Today head on over to Judy’s blog at DIY by Design to link up your Guest Bedrooms and below are the blog link ups from last week
Entryways – Abode Love
Living Rooms – View Along the Way
Bathrooms – Homemaker on a Dime

We technically don’t have a guest bedroom in our home because having enough bedrooms for each child along with an office for my husband proved hard enough to find, so adding an extra room might have put us in a cardboard box down by the river. Which really wouldn’t be suitable for guests either, unless you are part Otter.  .
The solution to our dilemma was to give our oldest daughter a queen size bed and to kick her out of her bedroom whenever guests come to visit us. She has a bedroom in the basement along with our second oldest daughter. So in the second’s room we have two twin beds which also can be used for guests. If I had a real guest room, this is what it would look like, thank you pinterest!

More importanly than what the guest room looks like, is how your guest room makes your guests feel. Here is a list of some things to consider having available to your guests:

- Comfortable bedding
- Extra blankets
- Pillows
- Kleenex
- Magazines or books for reading
- Towels
- Shampoo, soap, toothpaste, contact solution and case
- Bottled water and snacks
- Fresh flowers

My friend Jenny who is the hostess with the mostess, likes to have bottled waters and whatever your favorite treat is, waiting in the guest room for you.  Which makes me want to never leave her guest room, I would love to  just lay around, eat chocolate and read Country Living all day.  Ok, well that’s not true because I love Jenny and want to hang out with her but I think eating chocolate and reading Country Living all day isn’t a bad alternative.

So do you have a guest bedroom?  Anything I forgot to mention on my list of items to have available for guests?    Also, if you stay at my house, please don’t reference this post as applying to you and your visit.  We don’t provide most of those amenities.  ;)

Gold Digger

Hello friends. I’ve been a busy little beaver around here the past few days but unfortunately I have nothing to show you, yet. Soon though if everything goes according to plan, which it almost never does.
While talking with my mom on the phone and describing something I am going to be doing soon, she said “I thought gold/brass wasn’t in style anymore?”
Well, I think it’s coming back in a big way and even more fun is mixing it in with other metals. Here are some examples of gold and brass I’ve pinned recently and I have to say, I’m loving it!

So what do you think?  Is gold coming back?  Have you used it in your house recently?

Pinterest & Shingles

if you haven’t checked out Pinterest yet, I highly suggest you do. I haven’t figured it all out yet but so far it’s been fun pinning things. I have some invites left so if you want one, please let me know and I’ll gladly send it to you. You can find me on pinterest under my email with google – ange@thebloominghydrangea.com. I would love to follow you as well so if you are on there, let me know!
In other random news, my little bubs has shingles. Of course we are traveling this weekend because we have two weddings and one of them happens to be my mother in law’s so we have to go. He hasn’t complained too much but once in a while he tells me his arm is tickle as he calls it. He has also started scratching it. It’s really ugly looking, I took a few pictures yesterday but it looks much worse today and has spread.

I know it’s uncommon for children to have shingles but when the bubs was a baby he actually ended up with the chicken pox at three weeks old. My youngest daughter actually had shingles at the time and that’s how he ended up with chicken pox. Crazy I know! Thankfully they never bothered her and they don’t seem to bother him much either. I’ve heard that they are quite painful!
In other random news, we are going to go look at some goldendoodle puppies today. I know, we are crazy! With a nice big fenced in backyard I don’t think it will be too bad at the new house. The girls have been begging for a big dog because our schnauzer isn’t very playful or fun which is true, she’s seven years old and would rather sleep than play fetch. So we will see how that turns out. Like we don’t have enough going on with moving, lets add a puppy to the mix! Lol! In case you don’t know us, this is completely normal for our family to be somewhat chaotic and spur of the moment. I’m sure I’ll have some cute puppy pictures to post later even if we don’t end up taking one home!
Finally, nine years ago today, our second daughter was born! It’s so wonderful to see the beautiful girl she is growing into and how much she’s changed over the last year! Happy Birthday E!!!!
I hope you all have a beautiful Friday, I know we will!
