While working on my 2012 House Goals post yesterday, I was inspired and then pinspired to find art for the Master Bedroom. I was thinking that maybe an oil painting of a ship on the stormy sea would look good over the dresser. After searching the good ol’ internet for a bit, I found a picture that reminded me of a painting my grandparents used to have in their guest bedroom.
Follow this rabbit trail with me for a second, it will all make sense. For some reason it made me think of Bob Ross. I love Bob Ross, I remember when I was four years old watching him in the hospital after I had my tonsils out. The big hair, his smiling face, the calming voice, the great verbage such as “Happy Little Trees” I mean really, what’s not to love about Bob Ross?
After thinking about Bob, I was reminded of paint by numbers.
I loved doing paint by numbers as a kid, some of them can look really cool and I need some cheap art, so it sounds like a great solution to my art dilemma.
Here are a few great paint by numbers I found and pinned for inspiration. I must be on a large bird kick as well as ships on the sea.
I was always creeped out by the clown ones, they just look way too happy to be wearing makeup and ruffles!
Maybe I will become Paint by Number obsessed and apparently I will even be able to do them while going to the bathroom, that is multitasking at it’s finest right there!
I love how they look with a big chunky frame around them, gives them a vintage feel.
Who wouldn’t love a Gallery Wall of Paint by Numbers, especially if you didn’t have to paint them all?

i love finding vintage paint by numbers for sure. they have a fun feeling about them….. i guess maybe the feeling that someone wanted to paint but were afraid to do it on their own is what appeals to me. 🙂
i am sure i did some as a child, but i don't remember…. if i did i probably didn't follow the rules.
I bought my little nieces and nephews paint by number kits for Christmas and saw that there are also kits for "big kids"! I loved Bob Ross, his afro, and the way he would layer things in his paintings and make it look so easy.
I got the T3i too!! I am trying to improve my skills (even though this is my second SLR camera and I should know these things by now!)

I've done a few paint by numbers. I hope yours turns out great…mine looked like a child did it.
I LOVE paint by numbers!! Especially vintage ones!!
I've never actually painted one myself, but I love when I find one at the thrift store or garage sale.
I have a couple I've never even hung, a couple I sold and now regret, and have considered a paint by number wall before myself. (I saw the picture of the ones above the bed somewhere before and fell in love).
The ones I bought and sold, I didn't even realize what they were at the time, I just knew I loved their simplistic art style.
I love that thinking about Bob made you think about paint by number. 🙂 what a fun project that will be!
I heart paint by numbers and have a fab matador! Some people just don't get it (maybe because of that dreaded clown)!

You are SO cracking me up! Love the word "pinspiration" too! Have fun with the camera…lots of videos on the net you could watch, in case the reading is a little too technical. I always prefer videos over manuals. Happy Wednesday!
I am inspired to do a paint by numbers piece. My kids have had them occasionally but I never did when growing up. THe wall behind the bed looks amazing. This artwork idea sounds promising.
