Week 5 Sexy Master Bedroom

October 30, 2014

It’s getting down to the wire!  I am ready to be done with this room and enjoy it.   If you need to catch up, I’m taking part in a One Room Challenge Link Party from Linda at Calling it Home.  We have 6 weeks to transform a room, sharing our progress as we go!

This is what the room looked like when we started, not bad but certainly not good.  If you need to you can catch up on Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4.

This past weekend was all about making the tufted headboard.  After reading a few (too many) tutorials on tufted headboards and searching the web, we settled on this one from DO or DIY.

Thanks to a Home Depot gift card for $25, we were able to get the plywood and 2×6 boards for free.  I purchased 2 foam mattress pads from Wally world for $36, the fabric for the headboard was $15 and 2 sets of nail head trim were $22 total thanks to a coupon from Hancock Fabrics, (PS: They match Hobby Lobby coupons there).

This guy deserves an award for doing this with me.  He’s a planner, I’m a free spirit.  Imagine planning out tufts on a headboard, ‘nough said.

The nightstands are staying for now until I find something I love.  I did pass up these beauties the other week, the top was laminate and I worried it might be too much work to fix, plus the drawers were broken but they were only $25 each.

This also happened…….glimpses of the not quite finished room!  Next week is the reveal and hopefully I get it all done.  There are things like buttons for the headboard that need to be finished along with a list of stuff I don’t want to think about right now.  So just enjoy this collage and come back next week!

There are some crazy things happening in the final two weeks for the 20 main challengers so make sure you read their posts for week 5!
