Reviewing 2016

December 15, 2017

It’s that time of year again, when we reflect back on the past 12 months of memories and life lived.

January – We rang in New Years at home as a family after spending Christmas in Michigan.  A few days later was the  3rd Annual Downton Party, a bittersweet ending to my favorite tv show. Onto more partying with our 3 birthdays in a row.  A new gas stove and dishwasher are always exciting to buy when your microwave stops working.  Ha!    The Ice Castles in Eden Prarie were cool to see with a friend I met on instagram.  We also traveled to Wisconsin Dells to celebrate 10 years of friendship with our very good friends.

February – Was a no spend month for the 3rd year in a row.  Oreo the hamster died in the jaws of Ruby the doodle, probably one of my worst memories, yuck.  Oreo was replaced with baby the hamster who is just not as cool.  We hosted our 5th annual neighborhood Super Bowl Party.  Alex and I had the opportunity to speak on sex and marriage at MOPS which was fun.  And I left social media for a little while so not sure what else we did.  If it’s not on facebook did it really happen?   Lol.

March – We started working on the bub’s room and also planning for the ORC.  Seriously, I think we were really boring for a few months last year.  We found our church home this month though so that was a huge answer to prayer!

April – We went to Wisconsin to see family and friends. Had our good friends here for Easter Sunday.  Worked on the bub’s room some more and started working on the deck for the ORC.  We attended our friends roaring 20’s murder mystery party.  The bub’s had shingles, again.   Started working on a cool wall at church.

May – We finished up the backyard retreat for the ORC, including a pool.  Celebrated two family birthdays, swam in the neighbors pool and had our bathroom featured in This Old House magazine!  Purchased tickets spontaneously the day of the Zac Brown Band concert, wore ponchos and had beer spilled on us twice with our friends.  Good times.

June – Did decor for Dreamy Night at church.  We managed a quick getaway sans kids at the Charmant Hotel.

July – We spent the 4th of July in Michigan and camped in my parents camper.  We spent time with friends and family.  Watched our oldest in a play, the little guy had baseball, the other two girls had gymnastics.  Friends from Texas came to visit.  We went to Stillwater for a day.  Painted the laundry room.  One of the girls spent a week in Wisconsin.

August –  Installed laminate flooring in the bub’s room.  Went to the Kalahari for a few days for hubby’s work conference.  Drove to Duluth and met my online friend.  Came home for a day then back to Wisconsin to Devils Lake and a cabin rental with our friends.  Arrived back and had family here for a visity. Participated in the mud pit at youth group and took down some peeps.  Girls had tennis.

September – Back to school!  I started my job at Sherwin Williams.  Hosted a LulaRoe Party.  The girls had tennis, tennis and more tennis.

October – Attended the Sparkle Conference.  Celebrated my birthday.  Saw Need to Breathe in Concert with friends.  Stayed busy with all the kids school activities.

November – Watched our oldest daughter in the play.  Attended the Lions/Vikings game at US Bank Stadium.    Attended Thanksgiving dinner at our good friends home.  Spent a day shopping.

December – My whole family minus me was part of the church play, Elf on the Loose.  My parents came to visit.  We went to Wisconsin to meet our new nephew.  Had fun at the neighborhood Grinch party.   Parents came again for Christmas.   Tried to get away for a night and then a hamster died.  SMH

That’s 2016 for us in a nutshell!
