It’s that time of year again, where I look back at our House Goals from 2021 to see what we accomplished this year. I will be the first to admit, I really am in a slump with projects. The last thing I did was paint and I hate it. Have I changed it yet? Nope. So maybe looking back at my goals for this year will inspire some project mojo.
Our first project was getting the deck built. And, we did it! Ok, well I didn’t do it, my husband did. But yay!

They came and put the footings in during a very cold February and we finished the deck in April. Now it’s hard to imagine what it was like before the deck was here.

We used it a ton this summer, it was so nice to go sit out there and enjoy my coffee early in the morning.
Next on my list was a simple project, switching out the hardware to brass knobs.

I found these cute globe knobs on amazon and while I would have loved the Restoration Hardware version, I couldn’t really justify it. Love the warmth they added to the kitchen.
The basement was next on my hit list. I did paint it, Shoji white to match the main floor.

The basement did get a little more help, I ended up using the paint from another project to create an accent wall.

We moved the sofa to the other side, added some art and on New Year’s Eve we installed a larger TV down here. I couldn’t find a recent photo but this will do for now. Not finished but an improvement for sure!
The Laundry Room did get a little help but not as much done as I had originally wanted to do. We did buy a cabinet for the wall which added some much-needed storage but that’s about as far as we got. Whomp Whomp. I’m not even putting up a pic.
The Powder Room did get done!

Yay! I just love the pop of color and fun in this little room. I mean who doesn’t want to pee with birds and flowers on the wall?

Adding storage with the new vanity was a game changer for this bathroom.
One of our favorite projects that helped with the flow of our house was moving my husband’s office upstairs into a mostly unused bedroom and out of our front flex room.

He loves his accent wall and the paint color plus being away from ringing doorbells and barking dogs.

We love not having to worry if we’re going to walk into the background of a work meeting and being quiet. Again, I apparently didn’t take a lot of pics of his office, this is all I can find.
With the front room no longer an office, I had to pick what this room would be.

It became a dining room/library for a bit, we even ate one meal in here. I used the table to work from occasionally and for games/puzzles.

Then we moved the table back to the basement and became a sitting room. And now no one uses it except Jack when I’m taking pictures and the cat because her kitty condo is in here.

I did end up painting it, but I hate it and haven’t had the mojo to change it out. Pink is the color I wanted to paint it, but I chickened out. So still not sure what to do with this space color wise and usage wise. I could sometimes use an office but not really. We could use an extra guest room but not all the time. Maybe a combo library/office/guest room?
Relegated to another year of not getting done is the entryway wall. Maybe when I figure out the front flex room that will inspire the entry wall.

I did paint this door again though.
The fireplace wall was a maybe on the list for this past year.

We didn’t do anything with it until again, New Year’s Eve when we moved the tv from the basement upstairs. It has certainly changed the dynamic of the main living area which may cause me to use the front room more often.

We also ended up with a new sofa and chairs for the living room. Honestly, the whole look of the room has changed since we moved in. I loved that colorful rug under the table but I also really love it in the living room.
The one thing I did do that was small but really changed the feel of our home was paint the kitchen island.

Which lead to switching out the dining chairs and rug under the table. But this blue color totally changed the vibe and I love it!

And somehow, that’s our 2021 House Goals all wrapped up! Overall, I’m happy with all the projects big and small we accomplished this year. Stay tuned for the 2022 House Goals post coming soon.
