Project Fail!

So after finding this inspirational picture on pinterest:

So I thought if would be fun to do this on a wall in my kitchen. So here is what it looks like after 3 coats of paint, being “seasoned” and wiped down with a damp cloth:

It’s not looking the best so I sanded the wall down and am going to try again.  If it doesn’t work again then I will have to rethink this wall.  AUGH.  Have you had a project fail lately?

Hmmm…what do you think the problem was? I can't see a huge difference by just looking at the pictures. Were you not able to write on it properly or did you just not like how it looked? I also wonder if "chalkboard paints" are all created the same?

oh no 🙁 I HATE project fails! I swear they happen to me all the time, so no worries! What brand did you buy? Could that be it? I'm planning on using chalkboard paint on my pantry doors so I want to know if it still doesn't work out. Maybe priming the wall would help??

Maybe, now would be a good time to try making your own color chalkboard paint??

I agree that maybe you should try a different chalk board paint? It really doesnt look bad in the picture though!

It doesn't look so bad, just looks like it has been used..Probably the quality of paint. As long as you can write on it, should be fine.

It really doesn't look bad. I would try another coat and see if that works if not primer time. Hope it turns out, let us know!
    Good luck

Ange, I have found that the chalk board paint is very pesky…sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I am hoping after the sanding it will help it adhere better. It doesn't look too bad, but I understand your frustration. Hang in there! I'm sewing some drapes right now and it is very slow going. I'm pretty sure I will be pulling my hair out during the process. I HATE sewing, but it is the only way I will get what I want without paying an arm and 2 legs for them. 😉

Sad! It really doesn't look bad in the photo though. I wonder if one or two more coats would do it for you? (Even though that's no fun and three coats SHOULD have done it?)

Oh no! I don't think it looks that bad! Try more coats… I like where this is going!
