It’s March and I’m ready to kick off the first project of 2022 here at the Pond Home! It’s a little project but one I’ve been wanting to do for a while. From the listing off the mls you can see it’s a small laundry room.

It was on my 2021 House Goals list but we just didn’t get to it. I was hoping for cabinets, a cheery paint color or wallpaper to brighten up the space. A combo of personality and storage for this little room that does a lot for our family.

We replaced the light and used some leftover paint to try and cheer it up in here but that didn’t help. This room is just so blah.
I love the look of beadboard, it’s classic and feels cottagey to me. It’s used in multiple areas throughout our home. It’s on our kitchen island. Which is what started the concept of using it in the back hallway.

When we were adding the vertical shiplap to the back hallway, I wanted just a touch of beadboard on the ceiling to tie into the kitchen, as this hallway is right off the kitchen.

Tying in the beadboard in the powder room then was a no brainer. I love how it brightened up our powder room!

So it was an easy decision to carry the beadboard up into the laundry room. One because I love it and two, we had leftovers that would fit perfectly in this room. It’s crazy how much brighter the laundry room is already by just adding this detail.

If you follow me on instagram or FB you know I’ve been playing around with wallpaper for this room. Obviously a crude mock up thanks to instagram stories but it worked well enough for me to decide this was the winner!

You can’t go wrong with blue and hydrangeas in my book, plus it even matched the litter box and spoon. I mean I’m sort of kidding but it’s a bonus.
Let’s be real, Rifle Wallpaper has tons of gorgeous options but once I decided on the wallpaper, I ordered it up. It’s just waiting for my hubby and I to install it!

Besides wallpaper and beadboard, I’ve got a few other ideas for this laundry room. I’d love a cute rug in here so I’ve been on the hunt for that. But we need more than just for it to be pretty in here, we need some functionality. Last year we purchased a single cabinet for above the washer and dryer as I needed storage in here.

There isn’t a ton of space in this room, the cabinet definitely helped but it looks weird all alone on the wall. We’ve contemplated doing a metal pole, shelves, another cabinet. But never pulled the trigger on any of those ideas.
I love to air dry our clothes but this room is not big enough for a folding drying rack. As of right now I use our canopy bed frame for that. Not ideal. Then I found this, I loved this idea from Wayfair.

But I don’t want to spend $130 for this so we are gonna make our own. In fact,, I just grabbed a wall mounted accordian rack from amazon on a flash sale for $36 today.

With leftover beadboard from our back hallway project, I think my hubby can make something similar to the Wayfair one and it will fit perfectly next to the lone cabinet on the wall! Function and beauty all in one, yes please!
Besides the drying rack, I don’t think we will need anything else in here. I don’t think we can do much about the litterbox. We could possibly build a cute storage box around it but I’m not sure the cat will like that. There are some cute ideas though!

So stay tuned for this little Laundry Room Refresh. I can NOT wait to get this wallpaper on the walls!
