This past week we cranked out a lot! Last Thursday evening we got started shiplapping the fireplace and I was so happy to finally see some major progress.

We finished up the fireplace Friday night. Alex built the beams and mantel while I was working on Saturday. The cabinet doors were at a standstill partially due to weather, partially due to me not wanting to spend $250 on a paint sprayer. I painted the white doors with a second coat by hand on Sunday and they actually turned out really well. The paint I was using did not go on well with the mohair roller for the base coat on the charcoal cabinets. So on Monday I pulled a rabbit out of a hat, texted my Sherwin Williams rep and he produced a paint sprayer for me to use. It was amazing! So glad I decided to bite the bullet and rent the sprayer.

Monday we received a text asking if we wanted the carpeting installed Tuesday instead of Friday when we were originally scheduled. Um, yes please! The only problem, we were not ready. The shiplap needed to to be painted, along with the walls and some spots on the ceiling. We also needed to decide on a tile for the fireplace. So besides spraying two coats of paint on my cabinet doors, I also painted two coats of paint on the shiplap and painted the living room with a fresh coat of paint. The old gross carpet needed to be pulled up, along with all the staples. Thankfully my hubby was on that job. This is the original carpet to the house we think, so probably 19 year old berber that has been puked, peed and pooped on, the triple P effect if you will. Also factor in 4 kids, 2 dogs and life. Needless to say, it was beyond gross. Granted I have slacked on having the carpets cleaned because I knew you were going to be getting new flooring. Any guesses to where the sectional was?

We’ve accomplished a ton this week! Thank goodness because I was getting pretty discouraged last week. Here’s what we have left to do and it’s still a lot:
Scrape Popcorn off the ceiling
Install Shiplap and paint it
Stain Beams
Stain Mantel & Install
Install Beams on ceiling
Demo the Fireplace and pull it out further into the room
Create a Fireplace Surround
Tile or Stone the fireplace
Tear out carpet and tile in front of fireplace
Paint the walls
Install new carpet and tile
Spray Paint Eyeball Light Surrounds
Install a light fixture in the family room
Figure out where the tv is going
Paint lower cabinets
Install backsplash
Remove upper cabinets
Install floating shelves in kitchen
Install shelves on sides of fireplace
Make it all cute – Style & Accessorize
We hope to get most of this accomplished by Sunday night. Wish us luck!
Don’t forget to check out the rest of the week 5 ORC guest particpants and designers!
