This week we accomplished a few things! Yeah for us! I still don’t want to show a pic of the entire room yet because I love it and I want to be dramatic. Although I will say if you follow me on instagram, I may have shown a looksi the other day on my stories.
We debated putting wood beams on the ceiling as our ceilings are only 8 feet high but this room is large and I felt like it needed it. I want a cozy feeling and no one here is over 6 feet tall so we’re good. My hubby rigged up some beautiful beams using some barnwood shiplap from Home Depot. They look amazing, I’m not gonna lie. I love them. He does good work friends.
Seeing the beams were done and we had electricity to hang an actual hard wired light, we ordered a light fixture from Wayfair. And I feel like the Gaston is going to come in and start singing at any moment. The light fixture reminds me of old French pubs or something.
So that’s going back. The light fixture I really want is the Brighton from Wayfair is on sale for $600 down from $900.
Completely in our budget. Our budget of Things we won’t be buying. So the search continues. And I need a lamp or sconces yet as well.
And of course, doing one room always leads into another room. Spur of the moment this week I decided to paint the entryway with an extra can of paint I had in the basement. The entryway color was Sea Haze by Ben Moore and it was a nice medium gray with some green in it but I was over it after painting the front living room.
I went with Porous Stone by Dunn Edwards in the entryway. In the real life photo above you can see it on the left. I love how it’s soft and a light. And of course now I need a new front door color. It’s not a huge change but it just feels so much better!
Pretty much besides lighting all we have left to do is accessorize! Which is great because it’s about to get busy with the business in the next few weeks. I am excited to see the progress everyone is making on their rooms. Head over to Calling it Home and check out all the great spaces from the participants and guest participants like myself! Hopefully I will be back next week with some new lighting and more fun updates!
