n Progress: French Doors for the Living Room/Office

September 28, 2012

Warning:  These pictures are not “styled” or “pretty.”  This is to document my progress on our office and the doors.  If you happen to follow me on Instagram and/or facebook then you were able to see the newest project we’ve started here at Hydrangea Home.

For those of you that don’t know, when we moved last year, my hubby kept his job and now works from home.  He first started out in the dungeon basement, in a small 5×7 room that was actually located inside of a larger storage area.  He put his desk on the wall where the wood board is and this was his office space.  This picture is from move in day.

I eventually convinced him to move to the main floor where there was natural sunlight and no spiders.  First we tried moving the dining room into the formal living room and put his office in the old dining room.  Here he is working hard in the dining room/office.

When the kids were home it would get kind of loud in there as it was right next to the kitchen so then I suggested he move into the formal living room.  Of course he didn’t want to because the room is really big.   Here is what it looked like when we moved in with our Ektorp furniture.

This is the bare and empty room he works in.  Can you tell we’re getting ready to install the doors and I didn’t really take a stellar photo?  We were in a hurry!  We also have that really awesome light fixture hanging in the middle of the room.  I hope this picture doesn’t get pinned a lot for all its awesomeness, I didn’t even watermark it.  😉

After a few hours of hard work by my awesome hubby, we have doors!  No trim, non painted doors but doors none the less!  How embarassing, our shims are showing!   In case you need help figuring it out, this is from the entryway looking into his office/the old living room.

From the dining room side looking into the office:

Hoping to paint the doors next week.  Let me add some pretty images to this post before I lose all my readers.  I’m thinking of painting the french doors black, I love the look, what do you think?

I’m taking off today for some girl time and a great conference.  Really looking forward to getting away, getting refreshed and having lots of fun too.  Have a great weekend friends!!!

This is gonna look great! I love french doors. I keep trying to talk my hubs into letting me put them up between our living/dining rooms and out to our sunroom.
