Master Bathroom in need of a makeover

So last fall the Master bedroom got a sexy makeover which we still love and are so glad we did!  Beyond the bedroom, the master bathroom didn’t get anything done to it, all I have accomplished in this bathroom is painting the walls and vanity.  Apparently I am a slacker because back in 2012 I posted about doing the master bathroom as well.  Well 3 years later, I am finally getting around to it!   Here’s what it currently looks like in all it’s vanilla glory.

This bathroom is DOA, there is no life in here people!  Yes it could be much worse, it could be really ugly wallpaper with a hunter green vanity top but at least it would have life, even if it was ugly and so 1990.  This is plain old boring, like someone opened up a bucket of vanilla ice cream and walked away.  No hot fudge, sea salt caramel, whipped cream or sprinkles, just a bucket of boring vanilla ice cream.

The tile is definitely dating the bathroom so we’ve decided now might be a good time to replace it.  We were eyeing up this tile at Home Depot tonight but of course the hubby loves the dark gray and I want more of a medium to light gray.

Seeing as this is a “mini” makeover and I have a limited budget of around $225, the vanity is staying even though I would love something different.  We may be painting it and or replacing the faucet but we’ll see how far we can get with this money!

I picked up a shower curtain and artwork today at TJ Maxx, I’m thinking this is a good start.

I am thinking it’s almost time for another One Room Challenge but maybe Linda’s taking a break this fall, not really sure.  In the meantime, I’m going to create a pinterest board for this bathroom and start fleshing out the details!  Here’s for sure one bathroom that I really love, too bad I don’t have windows, or a glass shower or an amazing claw foot tub to work with in my bathroom.  But I can pull inspiration from here and use it to narrow down my ideas!

Before I sign off, I don’t want anyone to think I am ungrateful for the wonderful home I have, I love my house and can’t believe I get to live here!  If we did nothing to our bathroom it would be just fine because we have a bathroom, in fact we have 3 bathrooms in our home and a powder room.  I am grateful that I have running warm clean water, clean towels, a sink to brush my teeth at and a toilet that flushes.  Thankfully, most of this makeover is being done with money on gift cards and you know I am always bargain hunting!
So stay tuned and maybe hold me accountable, I’m apparently not good at making over the bathroom!  😉
