Marble Countertop Choices

April 9, 2015

Hello friends! It has been a while since I have blogged, we were busy traveling around the country for Spring Break.    We headed back to South Carolina and Tennessee, our favorite places to visit!  The weather was wonderful and so was the southern hospitality!

It’s gloomy and rainy here today so all these pictures are kind of blah but you don’t come here for the photography, right?

One thing I’ve been wanting to do since we moved in is replace the countertops in the kitchen.  I am assuming these are original with the house which would make them about 14 years old.   Just for fun, here’s a little Throw Back Thursday for you.

Now back to the countertops. They are starting to show wear and bubble in the seam.  The ugly burned hole area in the middle of the peninsula was here when we bought the house but I just cover it up with decor.

Many people love their granite countertops but I do not.  I really actually like laminate and for the price, I can change it out after a few years and still not spend as much as I would have for granite.

I’ve had my eye on marble for a while now but we aren’t putting in real marble because I can’t afford real marble and I hear it’s a pain to take care of and it stains easily.  So we’ll do the next best thing and get faurble (faux marble).

The left is Wilsonart Calcutta Marble and the right is Formica 180fx Calcutta Marble.

The Wilsonart one you can see at Houzz

You can see the Formica one installed at My Old Country House and isn’t her kitchen gorgeous!?!?!

I am considering a few others besides the marble, like the Formica Argento Romano which sounds like a type of cheese from Italy but it is not.

Chelsea from Two Twenty One just installed these in her kitchen so you can see a better representation there.

I really think the marble is going to be the winner, now to decide which one.

Do you have laminate or granite in your home?   I’d love to hear what you love/hate about your countertops and also, pick a marble for me!
