Hey friends, so if you follow me on instagram or my facebook page, you know last week I may have painted my front living room. I went wild and crazy, choosing a color without sampling it first and as you know, that’s probably a bad idea. I’m just going to be blunt and blame it on hormones, I always get these wild ideas to change things up right before that time of the month, either with wild haircuts or paint colors for my home. Anyone else do this?
Let’s back it up a bit, to when this front room was the hubby’s office and I let him pick the color, Riverway by Sherwin Williams. I hated this color from the minute I rolled it on. It was like a pine green with a bit more blue in it.
Many people loved the color but I did not. I don’t like “cozy” and “warm” feelings in my home, I like light, bright and airy with a welcoming feel. Just my own preference as I have learned, it’s better for me especially dealing with SAD.
So on a whim I picked Tidewater by Sherwin Williams. I painted the room and at first because it was cloudy out, I loved it!
Then the sun came out the next morning and my eyes were blinded by the brightness of the tv wall. It really is brighter than the photos let on.
So I waited to see what I thought throughout the day.
Inspiration hit and I decided to switch up the living room furniture with the family room. On a side note, I still love my dining room “grandma nursing home” curtains as my daughter likes to call them.
Guess what? Dog Butt. They can’t stay away when I’m taking photos.
I haven’t put the vent back on the wall because I am still not sure about this color.
And the couch is a little lower so perfect height for bird watching.
Now the problem is, the family room looks so blah with the beige couches. I mean, who wants to hang out in here, it’s so dreary and boring!
And it looks so lovely with the white furniture and color, much better in person than the camera can capture.
Not sure what the answer is but I’m guessing repainting the front living room is in my near future. I’m thinking more of a muddy color, not so clean and bright but maybe something more like Sea Salt, Comfort Gray, Rainwashed, etc. If you have any of these colors in your home, I’d love to see them!
