Kids Bedroom Laminate Flooring

May 27, 2015

This dog, whom I love very much, hates peeing outside when it’s raining or snowing.  That’s kind of a problem when you live in Minnesota.

So because of that cute little schnauzer face, two weeks ago I was busy ripping out some dog pee stained carpeting in one of the bedrooms upstairs.  I really love demolition, it was really satisfying to rip up the carpet, the pad and tack strips.

We knew installing new carpeting would just lead to the new carpeting becoming pee stained so we went with a cheap alternative that we already have and love in the sexy master bedroom, laminate!

Unfortunately the Saratoga Hickory laminate is no longer available in Home Depot stores but you can find it online for the same awesome price of .99/sq ft.  The ratings are great on the flooring as well and it’s super easy to install.

Now for the poopy part of this story.   When we opened up the boxes of flooring, they were damaged, all 23 boxes of laminate had some sort of damage.  We were having an appraisal done on our home for refinancing the following week and If I hadn’t been so eager to rip out the carpeting, we may have had time to return and re-order flooring but time was of the essence.    Some damage was worse than others, this was pretty mild, there were some ends that were completely crushed and sides too but my hubby strategically planned his cuts and salvaged what he could!

Not only did he work magic with what he had,  he even managed to get the floor done in one night!  And I managed to shrink the curtains and take photos.  We make a good team that way.

So now that the flooring is done, it’s time for the fun stuff, decorating and painting the closet doors.  I’m not sure if we’ll keep two kids in this room or if it’s time for the hubby to find a new office space in our home (again).  We’ll see but for now, this is working just fine!
