A few weeks ago I decided to paint the island. Before we moved in, I envisioned a green island. Something fun and a little different than what I would normally pick. Still in line with my modern grandma cottage feel I am going for. I even had some beautiful inspiration.

I had Magnolia Green on a poster board already from the front door color choices. I really loved the look of the sample on the island.

Then I went to the paint store and did something I tell people to never do. I picked a different paint color and did not get a sample first. I chickened out and worried maybe the Magnolia Green would be too bold so I chose Olive Grove from the Magnolia line.
I came home and started painting. And I doubted my choice and didn’t love it.

But I was committed so I finished the island and then did a second coat hoping I would love it more after it dried.

My family loves the color of the island. But it just fell flat to me. The green in my rug has some more vibrancy to it which is what I was looking for on my island. But I decided to sit with it for a few days and see if maybe I would eventually love it.

I am always browsing Facebook market for various items. When I came across these stools for $40 for the pair, they seemed like a good fit for my kitchen. I really love them!

This floral rug from world market is amazing! I can’t get enough of it. In fact I now own two because I wanted it in my kitchen by the sink. It pulls the green from the island and makes me love it a little more.
The island dilemma isn’t over. I need to paint the white quarter round on the island yet. But I am waiting.
I have now ordered a new rug for under the table. Which happens to match the jute rug I purchased off Facebook marketplace for the entryway.

I’ve decided maybe it was too much color for me so maybe doing a more neutral rug will be better. I can add pops of color through accessories and art.
