Last time I left off with my kitchen cabinets was in June, we were heading off for our vacation and I had just finished painting the last coat on the cabinets after my Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations failure. After working on my pantry last week,
and finishing up some other things in the kitchen, like a valance, curtains by the patio and hardware on the doors, I thought maybe I should share the updated photos. I scored my hardware on clearance last week and the hubby was kind enough to put it on right away. Here’s my hardware up close and personal, I’m in love! It’s the the Martha Stewart Bedford Brass collection at Home Depot. They are $1.98 online right now but in the store mine were only $1.50 each. A nice savings as they were originally $4.00 each when I first lusted after them.
I am doing a little before and after so you can appreciate how far this kitchen has come. We are not done in here but it will be a while before the backsplash, countertop, lighting and faucet are done. I left a few cabinet doors off to try out open cabinetry and I like it. I think we may even fill in the holes for the hinges we like it so much.
The fabric for the valance over the sink is Java Ikat Pewter by Magnolia Home Fashions, you can find it on fabric.com here.
The rug by the patio door is from Shaw Flooring, Kashmir Beige. This rug is awesome, it feels so plush and wonderful, I would definitely purchase a rug from their collection.
Wall color is Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore. Lower cabinets are Desert Twilight by Benjamin Moore in Ace Cabinet and Trim Paint. Upper Cabinets are High Hiding White in Ace Cabinet and Trim Paint.
I LOVE my kitchen, it’s so calm and pretty, light and bright. Have you painted your cabinets? Do you love your kitchen as much as I love mine?

Look at that difference!! Wow…the power of paint! And good taste :). Love the pops of yellow!
I love your kitchen too and all of the colors are beautiful. Such an awesome job Ange!!
Love the transformation! The painted cabinets are so much better! The gray, white and blue scheme is soothing. By the way, my brother and his wife painted their very similar dining chairs Night Tide and I am in love with the color! It’s awesome.
Everything looks amazing!!!! I love the open shelving on the end and the two colors of the cabinets.
So this weekend I spray painted on of my old cabinet doors (that we’d removed from the kitchen). I was seriously irritated at how easy and smooth it looks. I probably shouldn’t even tell you but 3 coats took 1.5 hours and looks SO MUCH BETTER than my cabinets that I did with the Rustoleum. UGH! Moral of the story: I’m doing everything the easy way from here on out 🙂
Your kitchen looks AMAZING. I love the colors and the rug is gorgeous. Great job!!!
Absolutely love what you did with the kitchen! Those colors together look great!
what a difference!!!! it looks amazing!
Looks fabulous. It looks totally different that it did before. I really love those colors in your house. You sure have a knack for total transformations.
Ange, I am absolutely dying over how your kitchen came out!!!!!
It is just gorgeous – I LOVE the lower and upper cabinets painted different colors, and the gray lowers with the brushed brass pulls – that is such a great combination! Also the valance over the sink ties it all perfectly together, and the pop of color from your chairs and the upholstered chair in the next room is so pretty. Our kitchen layout is so similar and I loved scouring your photos for ideas!! So beautifully done – fab job, girlie!!
I liked touring the room! Sooo much better, no? What’s in those cabinets by the fridge? Can one of those be doorless? I think it would help to give you that open feeling you like, or maybe cut out one of the panels and insert glass? I had my local glass shop insert glass into my stock cabinets and it was way cheaper than I thought it would be. But hey, I bet you could DIY it.
Great job on the space. I know how long and hard this must have taken, but all your hard work is paying off. Fabulous!
Your kitchen and family room are just gorgeous! You totally changed the whole look of the kitchen by painting the cabinets. I love your style of decorating. Everything looks so fresh and clean. Great job!

And thank you for taking before and after pictures from the same angle and same location. Makes it so easy to really see the changes you made.
I love your kitchen too!!! I love a good before and after and this a great one. It has me wanting to paint my lower cabinets. All the colors you have chosen are beautiful!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your kitchen!! Ange, seriously, what an amazing transformation!
What a huge difference Ange!! I love the shelves without the doors as well. It really gives a nice lightness to the kitchen. The turquoise chairs also really change the look of everything. You must be thrilled with it.
I love it too Ange! It is looking absolutely incredible and the transformation is beyond incredible! You have done an amazing job on it my friend. 🙂 We’re featuring your pantry makeover tomorrow at Inspiration Friday so be sure to stop by!

It’s beautiful! The kitchen looks classier and much more sophisticated now. I love the pops of blue, the window treatments, rug, and how it ties in so nicely with the family room. Amazing!!
You have totally transformed your kitchen! The cabinets are AWESOME!!!!! We are considering using that on our cabinets. The pantry looks awesome!
Your kitchen is GORGEOUS! And, just what I’ve been wanting for my kitchen. Maybe you can do mine! 😀
I LOVE it SO much! My favorite detail is those amazing brass knobs and pulls. They just take the whole thing over the top and make it look SO expensive. Gorgeous!!
So much fun to see the before/after shots! Love your kitchen and the cute blue chairs and that fabulous rug!

I love it!! And you’d never know we picked the same Shaw rug! I spotted it in the kitchen picture. It made me miss you! I hope all is well 🙂
I LOVE it!!! My kitchen desperately needs a makeover after seeing yours. Your valance fabric is great.
I love the color combo on the cabinets and love the valence, I may have to try something like that – right now we just have wooden blinds so that would dress it up a little.
Your kitchen looks wonderful- I love the pops of yellow and turquoise against the gray.
Oh I love it!!!!

Oh no!! I bought the Rustoleum Cabinet Restorer last year. My cabinets are not real wood. They have that sticky film over the pressboard wood to make it look real. I tried painting them yellow, thinking that would cover the ugly (fake) wood. But that was a huge mistake. The paint chipped off not to mention the color was just too yellow. So this coming week I was going to start the Rustoleum. The walls have been painted green. We used the Rustoleum Kitchen Counter Kit, I have to admit that it came out really nice. It was just plain white before and now it looks like a beige with colored speckles. We are going to put in the new Armstrong linoleum that is groutable. We have a island in the kitchen that we are going to put chopping block. Please say a prayer the Rustoleum Kitchen Cabinets turn out okay!
Thank you,
Jackie
Hi Ange,
I fell in love with what you did to your kitchen….so much so I bought all the same paint and colors. I have one more coat to put on the cabinets. It has taken me several weeks in between coats and making sure that they are properly dried. I am wondering if you had problems with chipping? We already have several chips and I am worried about the future with this finish. Did you have to touch up the paint with everyday use of the cabinets?
Thanks,,
Jan
