It’s been a few months since I last posted about my health so I thought I’d share a little update on here. All of the pics are from the end of August, October and the most recent are from today. My point is to share with you how my body has changed over the past 8 months through mostly diet, some supplements and a little bit of exercise but really not much.
Way back in August, I had labs drawn and my numbers were not good for cholesterol and my thyroid tsh was elevated. In fact, my cholesterol was 202, my triglycerides were 302 and my hdl was 30. Not good at all, in fact my triglycerides were in the high range and most everything else was borderline high. This combined with not feeling well really made me make some lifestyle changes and I am happy to see that they are working!
The beginning of April I had labs drawn again and my cholesterol this time was 186, my triglycerides were 141 which is more than half of what it was!!! My hdl is 37 which really should be above 40 but it improved a lot in just a couple months so I am going to keep on keeping on.
My tsh stayed the same, 5.7 which I guess is ok. My PA was not much help through any of this so I will definitely be seeking out a different doctor. I was disappointed that even when I had high cholesterol she never said a word and then when my numbers went down she also never said a word. No suggestions on ways to improve my numbers or encouragement to keep doing what I was doing after they went down. Thankfully last September I started seeing a chiropractor for nutrition and well being, thanks to the recommendation of a friend.
While I’ve been doing well lately with eating, I could definitely be exercising more. Not even for weight loss but just to gain more strength and stay active for my health.
I just want to encourage anyone who doesn’t feel good to visit your doctor or better yet, a chiropractor that works with nutrition and supplements. I credit my chiropractor for the changes in my health along with my diet. I will continue to eat gluten free as I know that my body just works better without it. I also discovered I have a soy allergy and so am avoiding eating anything with soy in it as well which if you read labels, you know soy is in almost everything!!! If you have any questions I would love to answer them for you. My heart in this post is to share with you that sometimes doctors don’t have all the answers and medicine is not always the best answer either. I am sure if I hadn’t made changes in my diet that the next step would have been cholesterol meds for me which would not lead me to better health. My wish is that one day chiropractors and doctors would work together and understand that together they could really change the health world. With just a few changes to my diet and taking a few supplements, my health and overall feeling of well being has changed for the better!
Ange, you look great and that is wonderful news on your improved health!! So inspiring! Also I haven’t been here for a while and it was a delight to see The Blooming Hydrangea header (so pretty by the way!) I miss blogging days gone by, before all the other social medias crept in and it seemed easier to keep up with everyone. I love what you’re doing with your deck and am looking forward to seeing more.
Lisa, thank you so much for your kind words! I totally agree, I miss the old blogging days too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, I feel like I don’t do that enough anymore and it’s another part of the old blogging days. Your family room is coming along and I love the blues with the leather couch and of course your amazing fireplace!!!
