Hello friends. Time for an ORC check in for week deux or two if you’re not french. We had a lot of big changes happen last week, paint, accent wall. carpet and arguing over which furniture goes in which room. To recap, Angela sold a vision of the front room complete with the new sectional to her hubby. The vision included a pin board we both pinned ideas to and had late night discussions about what we were doing and how the room would be used. We were united, we had a vision and a mission.

Then the carpet was in, accent wall done, paint happened and Angela said OH MY WORD, get that tufted sofa in here stat! Hubby was all confused about why the tufted sofa would go in the front living room. Hubby was in shock, couldn’t take in all the change, what about the sectional? The pin board? Our vision for the room? It’s changed she said. Then there was a slightly heated exchange about the furniture and what room it was going in. Long story short, it’s changed. So maybe this ORC is like a two for one deal now with living rooms?
It’s a good thing I never made an olioboard for the original vision for the front room. Slacking pays off friends. It pays off. That being said, we are still going with a lot of our original version which included an accent wall, wood beams on the ceiling, a new light fixture, new carpet and some decor.
Speaking of carpet, we have some amazing new carpet in our living room. As you can see, the old carpet is pretty gross and stained thanks to these hooligans and some crazy kids that live here. And that my be a new paint color on the walls. Which I am still loving for the most part but certain times of the day it gets this pinky beige cast to it. I hate paint in this front living room, it throws me with it’s east northerly lighting.

I have been keeping the french doors closed so the dogs and kids don’t go in there unless I can supervise them. It’s crazy how just changing the carpeting makes the room feel completely different! We went through a great new flooring company here in Rochester MN called The Flooring Collective. Super happy with our experience. Can’t wait to share more pics of the carpeting with you but for now, here is a little snapshot of the floor and the pics just don’t do it justice!

The walls were painted City Loft by Sherwin Williams. I was looking for a white but not a stark white. Most of the whites I kept picking were a little yellow and the carpet is defiinitely a warmer shade. I for the most part love the city loft color except for one corner of the room where it looks a bit pinky beige/gray to me. I am usually a green gray girl so this is a change from my normal color palette.
We finished the accent wall but I’m saving that for another week in case I change my mind. Kidding. Sort of. Ok, just don’t tell my husband. This upcoming week we are hoping to get the wood beams done but first, lighting! Do we cut holes in the ceiling and run wires to create an actual working light fixture in the ceiling? Which we should have done when we scraped popcorn ceiling last year. OR do we hide the cord in the beam for the light similar to what we already have going on? And do I do lamps or wall sconces? Would love some input on these lighting dilemmas!
Until next week……make sure you check out all the awesomeness being linked up for the second week at the ORC!
