THE BLOOMING HYDRANGEA

Create a beautiful space to live in grace

A question for you and a link up party!

So I am going to be really sad to leave this kitchen and it’s lovely white cabinets.

Although I love how open the new space is, I am NOT loving the oak.

I know I can paint my cabinets but it’s more than that, then it’s the trim, the doors, etc.  So my question is, does anyone have a great house that they blog about that has oak?  Anyone?  I swear it’s like some sort of requirement to have white trim for blogging about houses/interior design.   So link up if you have oak or know someone who does!

I have oak but I am painting over it. I know it seems like a lot of work and it is but it is so worth it. πŸ™‚ Finding wall colors with all that oak trim was just to hard for me. It didn't make anything look good. I mean, what goes with orange anyway (mine are really orangey)? I know you will miss your kitchen. πŸ™ Soon I will be painting my cabinets white. Can't wait! If I find any blogs with the oak trim I will let ya know but the only ones I can think of that HAD it painted over it. Sorry. Chris

Thanks Chris! πŸ™‚ I know that I will end up painting it all but I really want to wait until next year. Ok, who am I kidding? If I make it through the summer it will be a miracle!

I'm standing with you on this one. I would love to see an oak kitchen that knocked my socks off for inspiration.

Ange- I wish I had a link for you, but no luck. I can see why you will miss your white kitchen! You'd have to drag me out of there. πŸ™‚ I will say that I left a white kitchen for our new house and its open floor plan. The open concept is worth the temporary torture of oak-as-far-as-I-can-see!

Have you gone to Pinterest for inspiration? Are you on there? If not, let me know and I'll send you an invite. You could even just paint some of them – leave the oak for the bottom ones or just the island or something? You are going to have a TON of blogging stuff from your new house, though!

I'm right with you girl!! I feel so all alone out there in the big land of blog, oak trim and kicthen. To top it off my hubby refuses to let me paint the cabinets, I mean a big fat NO!! I will take a couple quick pics to link up, but do not laugh:)

Hi Ange! I'm Jen and saw your post. I was inspired and sent you a link to a post I did for you and your new oak kitchen. I hope you enjoy! I personally love white too and know the dilemma you're in. Best wishes and can't wait to read what you decide to do!

Would you believe that I found this post by typing "how to deal with oak trim" into Google? Hahaha! At least I know I'm not alone. I resisting the urge to paint over all of our oak. I think you can make it look decent with warm colors on the walls, but it IS a challenge. Love to see what you end up doing.

Ange, I have the same problem in my home! The oak is EVERYWHERE… doors, trim, windows, kitchen cabinets! Did you ever find any design inspiration to use with the oak? Restaining or painting all of the oak is just too big of a job. Please share if you came up with any great options! πŸ™‚
