While our master bathroom received an update that was done in 5 weeks, I was thinking that it would be easy to refresh your bathroom with a few simple updates that could easily be done in a weekend.
Vanity
One of the easiest ways to update your vanity, besides buying a new one, is to consider painting or staining your current bathroom vanity.
Ashley from Make it & Love it shows you how to stain your oak vanity without sanding!
Countertop Options
If you have a dated countertop and yet again, can’t replace it there are a few options out there for you. One of them being trusty old paint, yet again! Kelli from I’m Flying South shows how to paint your sink and vanity top over on her blog and there is also an update on how it’s holding up!
Another great way to makeover the vanity is with a cement countertop. I am not brave enough to try it but I know a lot of people have. Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer’s Body has a great tutorial on her blog.
Faucet
For not a lot of moola, you can easily update the vanity by changing out the faucet. You can easily find some cheaper faucets that aren’t lacking in style! I found this one at Home Depot for $28!!! It even comes in brass for $32 and has some pretty good reviews. (Excuse me, I’ll be right back, I need this faucet for our powder room). If you don’t want to spend more than $5 and love your hardware or faucet but not the color, purchase some spray paint and give your old hardware a new look like my friend Roeshel at DIY Showoff did.
For cabinet hardware, Melissa at Polished Habitat spray painted her kitchen hardware last year and it’s still holding up great!
I just did the same for our bathroom vanity and LOVE it!
Lighting
This of course makes a big difference in your bathroom and you don’t necessarily have to purchase new lighting to get a new look. Spray paint your bathroom light fixture and you could also easily switch out the globes/cups whatever those are called. Check out A Farewell to Can’t blog post for more info!
Mirror
You can easily change the look of your builder grade mirror in a weekend. One option is to frame it out like the Shanty 2 Chic girls did.
Another great option is tile! The SITS girls blog post has the tutorial for you!
And of course, if nothing else paint can work wonders too! I painted the mirror in the kids bathroom white to match the moulding around it and make it look more built in.
Storage
Shelving above the toilet is always handy, especially if you don’t have a lot of storage in your bathroom. From baskets to shelves, there are so many great options for storage!
Desert Domicile made these awesome chunky floating shelves for her bathroom!
She Tries Stuff used these crates on the wall for storage and stained them. You could easily paint them or stain them to match your decor.
Carmel from Our Fifth House used these cute baskets on her wall for storage. Love how they are numbered too.
Tile
If you have unsightly tile in your bathroom but don’t have the skill or perhaps time and money to replace it, maybe you should consider painting it! I know a few friends who have painted over their tile successfully. Nellie Bellie has the tutorial so make sure and check it out!
There’s so much more you could do in a weekend to update your bathroom that I think I’ll save it for another post! Have you updated your bath using any of these methods? I would love to hear from you if you have!
Great tips! Thanks for including my hardware, I’m so glad you love yours!
