I’m so excited to show you the progress we made on the entryway this weekend. For starters, let’s look back at the entryway when we moved in and a few changes I made before we really hit it out of the park this weekend!
And here is my hubby hard at work making my pinterest a reality.
I love that I can change out the pictures, maybe add something else besides pictures and just have fun playing with this space.
I started painting the trim for the cloffice white which then led to painting the trim in the entryway white which then lead to the stair banister and a gallery wall for the staircase. The hubby couldn’t stop staring at the white trim in the cloffice area the first day. Even he was loving it!
This is the part where you pretend you don’t see the unpainted oak by the step. K? Great, moving on.
I also found this rug at Kohls this weekend. It is not white, will hopefully hide some dirt and the dogs like it. Although maybe the dogs liking it isn’t a good thing. Hmmmm….they look innocent enough.
And we’re also looking at the rug, not the green frog tape and unpainted oak. That darn oak just won’t leave!!!! Oh look, some cute dogs to distract you!!!!
The last piece I needed was a table for underneath the mirror. I stalked Craigslist for a month and came up empty handed. I ended up finding something that would work right in my own house! I love when that happens. This little cream colored shabby chic bookcase which was a Target clearance find a year or two ago, received a little makeover with the help of Krylon gloss paint. The eldest daughter is mad that I stole took this out of her bedroom. I told her I’d find her a new cooler one.
The lamp was another Target clearance find a few years ago and has been residing on my bedside table but I like it in the entryway instead. The owl was a garage sale find the other week and my mother-in-law gave me the horse picture. I found the baskets at Hobby Lobby and can’t wait to fill them with some hats, mittens, umbrellas and shoes. Did you hear the sarcasm in the last sentence? You didn’t, ok good.
So here are a few before and afters to finish this up.
I’m giving you a sneak peek at the cloffice area but this is just the beginning. You’ll want to check back on Oct. 3rd when I’m hosting the closets and nooks section of Roomspiration!
So there you have it, then entryway. I hope you enjoyed the tour! Please check back for more progress on our house as we make it a home. The journey on this one is just beginning!
I’m linking up at Abode Love today for the Roomspiration Party for Entryways! Come join me and check out all the other awesome links and of course Laurel-Dawn’s beautiful striped entryway!
I’ll be back again on Wednesday for Living Rooms and hope you will join me then! If you want to link up to Roomspirations as well, grab the code from the sidebar of my blog and place it in your post and then head over and link up!

Very nice entryway! I have a schnauzer too! In my entryway post, I also posted a photo of him sitting by the door haha! Nothing makes an entryway feel more welcome than a happy dog greeting you at the door!
Whoa huge changes! You've been busy, lady! 🙂 It looks a million times better. I can't believe the difference! Gorgeous!
Great changes. My absolute favorite is the black door. Second is the white trim. I love love love white trim.
Wow it looks awesome!!!
WOW that took only what 2 months, no maybe less than that to paint the oak trim white…..how the?? What did you have to do to convince your hubby or is he such an awesome dude and he goes with the flow…..let me know how you do it and still have time for family, being a mom, cooking, etc…..sorry, it looks so nice and I loves the shelf/coat hangers. Can't wait to see the progress.
WOW! You don't waste any time do you Ange? Your entryway transformation is absolutely incredible and I'm loving the color pallette of black/blue/white. Your white trim just totally pops now and you created such a warm entry for welcoming family and friends! Way to go!:-)

I love your entryway. I especially love the rug. My daughter has the same bookcase. Wow you really transformed it. It looks great.
Great transformation. I love the blue color in the cloffice. The photo gallery wall, the painting, the new shelf – you've been really busy! Rug is a good find, too.
I'm loving the after. The white trim is great.
Love the changes to your entryway! The cloffice looks like plummage from Martha Stewart.
Oh I love the white and black. We have an oak banister in our house and this makes me want to paint it black. Great job!
Love love love it!! At first I thought "black? really?" but now I really like it! That rug is perfect — I think it ties together all of the colors in the spot nicely. Great job!!
Ange, it is awesome! You are a funny girl yourself 😉 I am SOOOO glad you got rid of the oak colored trim! The white is WAY better! So I guess you will see the cloffice when you come into the door now? I can't wait to see it finished. You are a genie at making things gorgeous! I can't believe you did all this and changed the design of your blog as well! Like I said a genie! 😉
Wow great job! What an amazing transformation. I love the coat rack on the wall and the bannister painted black! I was thinking of doing that. I definitely have to try it now!! 🙂
I love your entryway! The transformation is just amazing! I saw the same picture of the coat rack and my hubby made one for me too! I'm trying to find a wood bench similar to the one in the picture but haven't found anything yet. Here's a link to my coat rack: http://thriftydecormom.blogspot.com/2011/08/thanks-handyman-hubby.html

This is so pretty! I love the white too. Do you mind me asking paint color you have on the walls? I love it. I love the hooks and the ledge. Great job!
Looks fabulous! I love that rug! The table turned out great too! It's the best when you're able to reuse what you already own! Love when that happens. I'll be back, can't wait to see what you do with the cloffice!

What a great transformation. Love that you painted over the oak – looks so much better now. Also love the area rug.
Can't wait to see the closet when you host Closets & Nooks.
Thanks for the kind comments on my entryway. 🙂

i featured you!! http://typeadecorating.blogspot.com/2011/10/anything-goes-37-highlights-from-35.html
Love it! Could you tell me what brand, color and finish you used on the black banister and doors?
Great redo! I would also love to know the paint info for the banister. We have about 3x as much honey oak on our stairs, and I would love to update it. I was thinking of stripping/staining, but I like the way the white and black look. You did a great job!
