Color My World Challenge: The Color Reveal

April 3, 2012

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to participate in a little challenge with a group of really awesome and amazing bloggers.  We were to pick a color that we haven’t used in our home and incorporate it using fabric, paint and decor items.    Count me in, I love a challenge!  Or do I?  It is 12:45 am on Tuesday morning and here I am, still debating what color to go with!  Maybe I’m a commitment phobe or perhaps I have a bad case of indecisiveness?

After much debating, pinning, talking with my hubby and Cassie, pinning, debating, pinning and finally putting it to a facebook vote,  my choice for the color challenge is decided.  Green it is but more specifically chartreuse green.  (Not to be confused with chartreuse yellow.)   This website tries to explain exactly what shade of green chartreuse is but I’m still confused by it.   In case you didn’t know, chartreuse is a color that is halfway between yellow and green on the color spectrum.  It is also named after French liqueur which apparently is yellowy green alcohol.  Maybe like Mountain Dew that gets you drunk?

Chartreuse looks great paired with pink, blue and gray.  Check it out!

The family room has some nice pops of color right now but those pillows really belong in the master bedroom and since they’ve moved down here I have stopped making my bed.  It’s time for them to go back to their home in the master bedroom.  So I’m going to be adding the chartreuse color into my family room for this challenge.   During the next four weeks I’ll be checking in to show you the progress I’m making on introducing this new color into my home.

Now for the really awesome part of this whole challenge.  YOU, yes YOU, can join in!  When we reveal our completed color challenge rooms on May 1st, you will be able to link up at any of the participating blogs to show off your color challenge!  So what are you waiting for?  Visit these great and wonderful blogs that are also participating in the Color Challenge for some more color inspiration!

Funny…I’ve noticed your pins and have wondered what you were up to! Great choice in color. I had a client recently refer to it as “acid” green. Yikes! Hope that doesn’t scare you to death. 😉

LOVE your color choice! I can’t wait to see how you implement it. I really think that Chartreuse is a unique color in that it’s so bright but really pairs well with so many difference color palettes.
