A Bright Future in my Kitchen

Well after living in our home for one year, I have now painted the kitchen island twice. Ha! It was white when we moved in and I loved the classic beadboard on the island but I wanted a pop of color amidst all the white.

Not long after we moved in, I decided to paint it Olive Grove by Magnolia. And I have long debated this color choice. I liked it but…..

I didn’t love the green. Someone once said my kitchen looked a little like a tree with brown/gray floors and a green island. Which made me laugh.

Once I found this cute Loloi rug at Homegoods, I knew it was time for a new color on the island. The obvious choice being something blue. I always have loved blue and I think I always will.

This was a bit of a risk as this color was actually my second choice. While I wasn’t sure after one coat on the island, the second coat sealed the deal on this color. It’s perfect, not too bright or too dark. The color is Bright Future by Magnolia.

I wanted it to have some depth but not be so deep you couldn’t tell it was blue with the black stools at night. Honestly, this color is so good, I feel like the photos just don’t do it justice.

It’s taken a while but finally, I’m heading in the right direction on the main floor. Next up, finding some bookcases or cabinets to go on either side of the fireplace.

Bonus, there was even enough paint to do both of the interior sides of the exterior doors. Which I may have painted for the third time. It was pink, then green and now blue.

Cheers to summer and putting down my paintbrush for a while and enjoying the beautiful Minnesota summer! Are you working on any projects this summer?
