This past summer I had planned on a dining room makeover with my friend Leslie who was coming to visit me as we were getting rid of the nasty carpeting and having hardwood flooring installed, scraping off popcorn ceililng and getting new curtains and light fixture.
Leslie couldn’t make it out and so I went ahead and painted the room the exact same color it was, Kensington Green, painted my light fixture, purchased a rug and scored a free table from a friend.
But in September I decided to go bold and dark, painting it Amherst Gray by Benjamin Moore. We also installed chair rail but have yet to add the picture frame moulding.
Unfortunately the dining room chairs have seen better days and are starting to literally fall apart. We purchased the chairs and table 11 years ago used and we have used them quite a bit over the past decade. I LOVE having a dining room, we eat in here every night and use it for crafts, games and homework. So I am looking for new dining room chairs and contemplating what to do to the table. The top needs to be refinished even though we really like it the way it is right now. I have been in love with these Eames style chairs for a while but just not sure how sturdy and comfy they will be.
But I also really love tufted linen parson chairs but with 4 kids and spaghetti sauce I just don’t see these chairs being a wise choice for my season of life.
So the hunt continues for chairs in my dining room. I’m also thinking about stenciling the wall, I just love the powder room from Driven by Decor that Kris did for the ORC last year. Isn’t it beautiful?!
Maybe by this summer I’ll have finished the dining room, about a year after I started it. Sometimes slow decorating really is the way to go. If you have a dining room I’d love to know what kind of chairs you have.
