No, I’m not talking about fall, or pumpkin
barf spice everything. I am talking about the One Room Challenge! For this challenge, we will be tackling the front/formal living room. It recently looked like this before I sold my beloved ektorp furniture.
We recently purchased a sectional from Costco of all places and I needed a lot of convincing to keep it. My family was ready to do anything, including letting me participate in the ORC again. So, I agreed it could stay and plus, I hate to admit it but the sectional is super comfy.
This room has been through a few changes since we moved in. We have used it as a formal living room, a play room, a dining room and an office. I’ve struggled with this room for the better part of the 6 years we have lived here.
Have I mentioned this will be my 3rd time painting this living room in 2017? And, sadly, it’s been painted 5 times in 6 years. It’s been Riverway, Newburyport Blue and White, Tidewater for like 3 days, Revere Pewter for a month and finally Aloof Gray. Now, to be fair, I do love the Aloof Gray in here but it doesn’t really go with the new sofa. AND, I have not repainted the kitchen/living room since I first did it in Gray owl 5.5 years ago. So that counts for something, right?
Being off the front entrance, it’s the first thing people see when they come into our home. It’s a large room and gets a nice amount of sun light. We added French doors a few years ago which helps make this a great tv watching room.
It’s challenging with two entrances and a large window, leaving only one wall with nothing on it. There is also no overhead lighting and the carpet is in need of replacing.
All that to say, I’ve got a secret pin board already started, the hubby is on board and we are ready to make this room a place
we I love to be in! Stay tuned, in just two weeks I will be back to share our plans for this room!
