The last time I blogged was the beginning of January! Ugh. Well, if anyone is still around, I am hoping to hit up 2019 with some fun new projects in our home. We didn’t do a lot this year because well, time and money. For some reason this year was super busy with kids activities, more than normal. I thought when the kids got older and could drive themselves we would be less busy. But it turns out, that’s not true because the kids who can’t drive yet, are the ones who are busy. Womp Womp.
Anyways, 2019 is a new year and I’m already chomping at the bit with some projects I can’t wait to start!
The first project is going to be replacing the last of the berber carpeting. Yes, it’s still in existence here at our house. This grainy cell phone pic I stole off my instagram makes the carpet look decent. Don’t be deceived friends. She has a big old wrinkle in her, kind of like the space between my eyebrows. There are pieces that are sticking up and unraveling, it’s got some nice dog puke and pee stains on it. Plus, there may be clues to Jimmy Hoffa’s last known location buried in there.
It’s in the fireplace room and it is past time for it to leave. Part of the reason we have waited to replace it is because of the Schnauzer. Sadly, we had to put the schnauzer down in October. Now that we don’t have to worry about random old dog lady pee spots, we can finally be done with the berber!!!
Of course replacing carpeting isn’t all that is on my list of to do in the room. We will be covering up that dang popcorn ceiling, installing a light fixture and adding some wood beams. Of course when we do all that, it means we have to do something with the fireplace and those darn cords for the TV. Yup, this room is getting a facelift and I can’t wait!!!!
We also need to install some flooring into the basement where I had my studio. We sold our business this fall and now it’s back to being a playroom of sorts.
Trying to navigate how to make a cool hang out spot for the kids but one where they won’t be making out is going to be tricky. Maybe if we make out down there first they wont’ want to. Stay tuned as we figure that out! And if you have any suggestions, we are all ears!
And fingers crossed, this may also be the year of replacing the counter top. A blog post will be coming soon but can I just say, counter tops are expensive!
Part of me really just wants to put some nice laminate in here but if we do eventually sell, I think that a stone surface would be best. Of course the counter tops I really want are close to $7000! Hello Cambria Britannica Gold Quartz. My husband thinks it’s a special gift I have picking out the most expensive stuff without trying.
And if we do counter tops, then that means painting the cabinets, taking down a few cabinets, installing shelves and a real tile for the back splash.
I can hardly contain my excitement. But then, if we finish that all off, I am not really sure there will be anything left on my project list. Maybe then it’s time to move? HA! This past year without any projects was boring and I kind of lost my mojo. I am so looking forward to 2019! Tell me guys, what’s on your project list for 2019?

Can’t wait to see what you do especially in the kitchen! You always inspire me friend. Andrea
