About Ange

Hi, I am ange and welcome to my blog, The Blooming Hydrangea.  I purposely spell my name with a small a, I like it that way.  You can read how I came to name my blog here.

I am lucky to be a wife to an amazing man who happens to play the guitar, piano and drums.  He also is handy to have around the house when working on projects, we make a pretty good team together.  He works from home as a computer programmer by day and guest blogger at night (not really), you can read his blog posts here and here.  He’s a pretty funny guy who I am madly in love with.

I am blessed to be a mom to four awesome children, of course I think they are the best, I’m their mom!  Having four kids is rewarding and sometimes challenging.   I never imagined I would have four children and I’m only 23 years old, how do these kids keep getting older and I’m still so young?  (If you think I’m 23 please email me so I can give you a big hug!)

I am also a follower of Jesus – which means I’m not perfect but thank goodness Jesus is!  I make a lot of mistakes but I’m learning.

Thanks to my husband’s brains I get to be a stay at home mom.  I love meeting new people, reading, painting,   the colors gray and blue, floral and stripes.    I am pretty random and a spur of the moment night owl although I try to be a scheduled person, it only works sometimes.   Good thing my hubby is a night owl and he’s learning to just go with the flow, most of the time.

Why do I blog?    My main reason for blogging is to inspire you to bloom in both heart and home.  What does that mean, really?

For the Home

I enjoy sharing my projects and inspiration from blog land with my readers.  If I can do this stuff, I am sure you can too.  I like to find items for the home through Craigslist and thrifting.  Usually it just needs a little love and some paint to look good as new for half the price, while being a unique piece that you can’t buy from your local Target or Pottery Barn.  You can check out our current home here, which is in process as I like to call it and our last home you can check out here.  Occasionally I like to share some of our favorite recipes, like stromboli and the best banana cake with cream cheese frosting.

For the Heart

While I find joy in sharing my thrifting finds and latest DIY projects, I also want to share the heart stuff.  Why are we DIYing and thrifting?  To create a haven from this crazy world, a place for our family and friends to come and relax in, a place to find rest, to share laughter and good times.  A welcome retreat.  Our home is where we can be ourselves and don’t have to pretend.  Maybe you or someone you know struggles with anxiety like I do, maybe you have lost a baby through a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.  Perhaps your marriage is struggling and you don’t know where to turn.   On the lighter side, maybe you just need to have more sex or you need to talk to your kids about sex.  Whatever you are reading, I hope you will find encouragement and hope in these posts.

Do you have a DIY project, thrifty find or story from the heart you want to share?  I’d love to hear about it and maybe feature you if you don’t mind me sharing.    If you have been inspired in heart or home, drop me a note, it warms my heart to hear from you!
