My Favorite Things 2011

Today I’m going to share A few of my favorite things this Christmas season and you should.

I just went to Bath & Body Works, used a coupon and managed to buy 12 foaming hand soaps for $30.  I love them and they are my splurge, yes, I choose to splurge on soap that gets washed down the drain.  I used to use the cheap soap from Target with a refill jug for $4.50 but I hated the way my hands smelled after washing them and the foaming soap just seems more fun to wash your hands with.
Two of my very favorite Holiday scents right now are Ribbon Candy and Iced Gingerbread. Yummy smells that you can only get once a year, check. Clean hands that feel good, check. Use a coupon and get them for around $2.50 a piece so you feel good about not spending a lot on soap, check.

An added bonus and another favorite thing, you can buy these cute metal holders for your soaps that are called soap sleeves.  Interesting name.  Anyways, they are cute and come in different designs.

I am not a coffee drinker, if you know me at all, you know that I have enough energy I don’t need a kick start to my day.  Also caffeine kicks up my anxiety and you will find me in a corner, rocking and sucking my thumb.  I do love flavored hot chocolate though and this one, is my favorite, Land O Lakes Amaretto!  It’s hard to find but if you find it, hoard it!  That’s what I do, I buy like 10 at a time, they are about .50 cents a packet so really you are getting 10 hot chocolates for the price of maybe one Starbucks hot chocolate.  If you get a small one maybe you could buy one and a half from them, maybe.

To make it even better, I have now started adding some whipped cream on top, caramel topping drizzled on top of the whipped cream and then sprinkle some sea salt on for the final WOWZA!  Oh yummyness in a cup, how I love you!  If you aren’t a big Amaretto fan they have other great flavors like Hazelnut, Caramel, Raspberry, Mint, Artic White and Irish Cream to name a few.

Finally, my hubby and I have recently discovered the tv series Parenthood on netflix.  We are not tv people much but we do like to watch tv sometimes.  This is the perfect series for us, we laugh because sometimes we so relate to what’s going on.

Have you watched this show?  Don’t tell me what’s happening, we are only halfway through season 2!

Ok I am editing this post because how could I forget about one of my very favorite things that I use whenever we watch an episode of Parenthood!

This little lovely makes popcorn kernels turn into popcorn in the microwave.  Add some kernels, no oil or butter needed, place the lid on the container, put it in the microwave, hit the popcorn button and in a few minutes enjoy fresh popped popcorn without gross fake butter all over it.  I of course add my own butter and lots of it but that’s the beauty of this baby!  No messy pan full of oil on the stove, shaking the pan vigorously for 10 minutes while it pops.   I found my bowl at Target in the chip aisle, right where the popcorn kernels are.    It was only $8 in the store, it’s $12.99  online but I think that is still a deal!  What a great Christmas gift to give with some kernels, maybe a movie and a fun beverage like root beer!

So that’s it, my favorite thins right now, this moment!  I love them and I’m sure you will too, really!     What are your favorite things right now?  Tell me, talk to me, I want to know!

Master Bedroom Update, thank you Craigslist!

After painting the trim and the stripes in the closet I lost the vision for the master bedroom.  It’s been just kind of blah but this past weekend Craigslist came through and now the vision is back!

Can you believe I scored this dresser, for free?  That’s right peeps, someone didn’t want this anymore and I found it at 2am so I emailed them.  They sent out a blanket email at 7 am to all 35 people that emailed them regarding the dresser.  I woke up at 8:30, read the email, called them and said, I’ll be right there!  I couldn’t believe it was still available.  My hubby, who loves his sleep, was so awesome to get up and go with me to get the dresser.  I knew that he’d rather sleep than load up a dresser but he loves me more than sleep.
I have been looking for a throw to add to the end of the bed and managed to scoop up a chunky chenille throw on Saturday at Target for $20.  Even if it doesn’t stay there long term, I love the blanket and I can always use it elsewhere in our home.   I decided the lamps from the family room look really good in our bedroom so I stole them from the console but now that I look at the picture, maybe some thicker, girthier lamps would be better.  And yes, girthier is a word  I just made up.  Now I will have to head back to Savers or Goodwill and find new lamps to spray paint for the family room or my bedroom.

It’s impossible to take pictures with kids or dogs in them.  Really.  I also added my federal mirror above the bed, that’s the start of the gallery wall.  Maybe.  After putting the dresser at the end of the bed we no longer needed the dresser in the closet.  I borrowed the desk from my daughter’s room and I might just keep it.  I’ll be finding her a new desk, don’t worry.

The only thing is now I have an empty wall in our bedroom that I have no idea what I should do with.  It’s almost too small for furniture like chairs and I don’t really want to add another dresser.  I could move the desk/vanity out there but then the closet is really empty looking.  We did move the dresser at the end of our bed over to that wall but it was too small for the big wall.  The bed was moved to that wall as well but I didn’t like it.

Here is the wall with the dresser:

One of the reasons the dresser worked well at the end of our bed is that the footboard does not attach to our frame.  We need to buy a new frame for it to attach to.  So now here’s a photo without the footboard:

Next up, pillows, a bed skirt and curtains.  I’m thinking of dong white curtains with a stencil/pattern on them.  Or maybe just plain gray velvet ones?   I’m still not clear on my vision for this room but it is better than what it looked like a few months ago.

Perhaps I should lighten up the room by doing one wall with a stencil or stripes?  Or will that be too much?  I think I’ve thought so long and hard on this that I can’t think straight anymore.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc.  Anyone else having a master bedroom identity crisis?

Blooming Blogger Series: Before Meets After

Good Monday Morning!  Did you all have a fabulous weekend?  I know I did!  I am almost done with my Christmas shopping which feels nice.  Speaking of Christmas shopping, don’t forget to you can still enter for these two giveaways,  Cupcake Whimsical Frames ends Wednesday and $25 to ElemenOPillows ends Thursday.

So I’ve been debating what to name this guest series that I am doing every Monday and I originally had called it The Blooming Blogger back in April and May.  Then we were moving, things were a bit crazy and the series fell to the side after only two months.  Well I’ve decided to start the series again and keep the original name, hopefully you like it.  Thank you to those that gave name suggestions, they were all great ideas and I love that you actually wanted to help me!

Alrighty peeps,  it’s time to get this party started!  This morning I am so happy to welcome Lisa from Before Meets After.   I am not even sure how I found Lisa’s blog but I’m glad I did.  She has a great sense of humor and has a great eye for transforming furniture.   I am so excited to meet her at Haven in June and hopefully she won’t mind me snoring as we are going to share a room while at the conference.  Or at least we were until she read that last sentence.

Take it away, Lisa!

My name is Lisa and I blog over at Before Meets After. Pretty much I am obsessed with all things DIY. I love Ange’s blog for that same reason. She is an amazing DIYer and does it with 4 kids!  I have enjoyed getting to know her through the blog world :)
Ange sent me a few questions so you can get to know a little more about me!

What is your favorite show on HGTV?

I heart Scott McGillivray from Income Property. It is unbelievable to me that he takes these hole in the wall places and turns them into amazing, functional spaces that people pay big bucks to live in. So Scott, if you’re reading this, I have the hots for you and your properties :)

If you had $5000, what would you do with it?

Well first of all I would send my parents on vacation to show them how thankful I am for all they do for us. They work so hard and have helped the hubbs and I out big time. They let us live in their lake house, for FAH-REE for 6 months while we searched for the perfect house. They never complain when we ask for help at our own house (and that seems to happen a lot!) Everytime they’ve gone to go on a big vacation, the storm of the century hits or some other catastophe and they’ve been unable to go. So I wouldn’t think twice about booking them a trip to some paradise island…and beg they pack me in their suitcase of course :)

What are you working on right now?

Our kitchen seems to be taking up the majority of my time right now. We’ve put in new countertops, a backsplash, and I’ve even given a sneak peek to our amazing island. It’s been worth all the time we’ve put into it because we absolutely love it!

What is one gift you would like under the tree for yourself this year?

As I get older, I find it harder and harder to buy things for myself. There’s always other things that the money needs to go towards! But I would not complain if Santa dropped one of these down our chimney. (Gently of course!)

1989073 Front Large

I’m dying for a DSLR camera, but I’m also dying at the price! I’m hoping that hubbs and I can save enough to finish the kitchen appliances and then get one of these. But I’ll keep dreaming in the meantime :)

We all have project fails from time to time, what is one project that failed for you?

What project hasn’t failed me?? I really think if you’re going ot be a true DIYer, you have to be prepared for if, and when, a project fails. There’s always going to be some snag, whether big or small. Some are easier to recover from than others. One of the most frustrating things was when we bought our oven, and it didn’t fit! I thought my hubbs was going to kill me! It took a few days, a lot of wood, and some creative ideas, but it finally worked. I’ve had smaller projects go wrong like having to repaint entire pieces of furniture because I didn’t mix enough paint (duh!) or not having enough supplies and running out mid project. But it’s all in good fun, and afterwords you’ve got a great story!

Thank you Lisa for joining me today!  Make sure you head over to Lisa’s blog Before Meets After and say hello!

Also Lisa and a few other bloggers, including myself, will be guest posting at Lisa’s blog starting December 5th for the Twelve crafty days of Christmas.  You will want to make sure to stop over and see all the Christmas crafts, treats, ornaments & DIY Projects that will be featured each day!

Pillow Giveaway

Good Saturday morning friends! I posted late last night for the first giveaway so make sure you check it out! Today I am doing another giveaway because I just love you guys and I love pillows too!

I just discovered a great new place to get some pillow covers on etsy at ElemenoPillows.  Don’t you just love that name?  So fun!

This is a little bit about ElemenOPillows:

ElemenOPillows is my new creation featuring modern, fresh, chic and affordable slipcovers for pillows. A pillow slipcover can be slipped over a pillow you already have or over a pillow form that you purchase from a craft store or online. It’s a wonderful way to give a room an instant and inexpensive makeover!

After launching ElemenOPillows on Etsy a few short weeks ago, I have already filled orders for several hundred pillow slipcovers! The response has been amazing and I am having an absolute blast with it!

The business satisfies my love of fabric, my long-standing love for sewing and decorating and also my   entrepreneurial spirit.  As an adult, my creative itch now gets satisfied by choosing and working with a variety of beautiful fabrics. There are such wonderful patterns, textures, styles and colors from which to choose. And there’s such satisfaction in creating an item that has the potential to transform a room for a perfect stranger in another place…sometimes half way around the world. I feel an odd kinship with these people~my customers.

I’m in love with so many of her pillows for the master bedroom that I’m having a hard time choosing!  So know I’ll let the winner of this giveaway have the same dilemma I’m having, which one(s) to choose.

I’m giving you three chances to enter:

1) Follow The Blooming Hydrangea on FB and leave a comment below
2) Head over to ElemenOPillows and tell me in a separate comment what pillow you would pick.
3) Share this about this giveaway on your blog, fb or twitter and leave me a separate comment.
That’s it, easy peasy, three chances to win.

This giveaway ends at 11:59pm on Thursday December 1st and the winner will be announced on Friday December 2nd.

I’ll be back on Monday, today we are off to go pick out our tree, cut it down, come home and decorate it, all with four children. We threw the fake tree out when we moved so we’re going to try a real tree again this year. Hopefully we survive this experience, you know how things are always so wonderful in your head and then real life is usually nothing like what you envisioned? I’m sure we’ll all have a great time!

Anyone else putting up their tree this weekend? Anyone going to do the cut your own? I’d love to know, are you a real or fake tree person? Talk to me guys, I’ve missed you the past few days!

Black Friday Giveaway

Good Black Friday evening peeps! Are you out of the food coma yet? Maybe you’re sleeping because you didn’t go to bed until 5 am this morning? Whatever you are doing, I hope you had a grand time yesterday! We had such a fun low key day at home, well except for the parts where we were busy yelling at our tv because our team did not do well yesterday. But besides that the weather was awesome, my wonderful hubby finished hanging the rest of the Christmas lights and I dug up 10 hostas out of the front bed. We even remembered to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving last night, a classic at our home. Today we had a sitter here for a few hours so we could head out and finish up our shopping for the kids. We went Wednesday night but didn’t quite get it all in. Did you get any crazy good deals or perhaps you were sprayed by pepper spray instead? I’ve always wanted to get into a fight on Black Friday or at least pretend to with my friends but so far no fights. Maybe next year.

In honor of the biggest shopping day of the year, I thought I’d have a little giveaway. I was thinking a gift card to Target or Pier 1 or somewhere like that but tomorrow is Small Business Saturday and I figured Target and Pier 1 really aren’t hurting if I don’t buy a gift card from them. I thought it would be fun to find two small business and give them my support instead!

For the first giveaway, I have some really super cute ornaments called Cupcake Whimsical from Monica at Read My Walls. Isn’t that a great name, Cupcake Whimsical? It makes me want some cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles, that’s for sure! These cute mini frames would look great on the tree but you could use them elsewhere too. Maybe paint the back with chalkboard paint and use them for place setting cards at your table or food signs for your Christmas buffet. You could also put your family pictures inside and use as gift tags for Grandma & Grandpa’s gifts.

So many cute ideas, I am sure you can find a great use for these! I know I am buying a set for myself, it’s only $15 for three and available in any color you want! Monica also sells the larger versions of the Cupcake Whimsical picture frames likes these in my entryway.

If you are looking for gift ideas head over to Read My Walls.

So here’s how to get your name in for this fun giveaway:

1) Follow The Blooming Hydrangea and if you already do, just let me know.
2) Share this giveaway on your blog, fb or tweet about it and let me know in a separate entry.
3) Tell me what you are going to do with these frames in a separate entry.

The giveaway ends at 11:59 Wednesday, November 30th and the winner will be announced on Thursday December 1st.

Happy Thanksgiving & Food for the Hungry

Good Morning friends, it’s almost Thanksgiving and I am sure many of you will be traveling today to be with your families tomorrow and enjoy a great feast.  As we gather around our tables tomorrow and thank God for all we have been given, our family will also be reflecting on those who have nothing to eat and are starving.  Some days my kids think that they are “starving” but we really don’t have a clue as to how that feels and hopefully we won’t, ever.
Today I want to share with you a cause near and dear to my family’s heart, Food for the Hungry. You may have noticed the ad in my sidebar on the left that I put up the other week.  I asked them to provide me with a banner because I love this program and what they are doing.

If you have never heard of Food for the Hungry before, let me share with you what they are all about. Here is their mission statement:

To walk
with churches, leaders and families
in overcoming all forms of human poverty
by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.

When you give to programs you expect a large portion of your money to go directly to the people you are giving to but that is not always the case.  With Food for the Hungry they state:

More than 93 percent of total income, including commodities, goes to field programs. As such, we ship donated goods using matching grants from governments and corporations, and cooperate with other organizations in pooling resources for the purpose of gaining efficiencies.

What they do with your money is go to the hard places in Asia, Latin America & Africa teaching the community how to sustain itself, teaching families how to care for each other and giving the children a better education along with learning healthy practices.  They also learn that they are valuable in God’s eyes, the power of prayer and reading their Bibles.

We first started sponsoring children back in 2005 through another child sponsorship program.  Unfortunately it didn’t go very well, we kept sending letters to our child and then we would get a note from the program saying we had a different child.  We never actually received any letters from our children and we left the program after being switched around at least 5 different times.

We first heard about Food for the Hungry when we attended a concert put on by 33Miles.  During the concert they shared with us how the traveled alongside Food for the Hungry and saw first hand the work they were doing and better yet, the difference they were making in lives!  You can read a blog post by one of the band member’s regarding this child sponsorship program here.
My husband and I decided to give child sponsorship another try and we are so thankful we did.  We picked Jesus out and have been writing to him, encouraging him and praying for him for the past two years.  It is great for our children to see how kids live in other parts of the world and they look forward to reading his letters and writing back as well.  We received a letter in the mail last week stating that Food for the Hungry is leaving the region where Jesus is located because the community is able to sustain itself and no longer needs sponsorship.  Our family is very excited about this yet we are sad that we will no longer be communicating with Jesus. We will definitely keep praying for Jesus!  Our kids are excited to pick out our next sponsor child and I love how they want to be involved in this!
.
If you would like to sponsor a chld, you can head over to their website by clicking on Sponsor a Child.  For $32 a month you can give a child like Roger (pictured below) food, an education and most importantly, hope!

There are other ways to give as well, including through the Gifts Catalog where you can buy things such as:

  • Deworming tablets for 500 children for $25
  • Vegetable seedlings for $25 which a family can use to feed themselves for a year
  • Dairy goat for $100
  • Water purification tablets to provide clean drinking water for a year for $24
  • School Fees for $50 allows a child to attend school for a year or a school uniform for $20
  • 5 Bibles for $35 or Sunday School for all ages for $50
  • Emergency Fund Every $10 provides an amazing $150 to $200 worth of life-saving food, plus hope for the future

You could get your family together and pick something out of the catalog to give this Christmas.  Maybe you could even bring your extended family together and combine your money to sponsor a child or purchase something from the catalog instead of purchasing gifts for each other this year.  Do you really need another sweater or pair of socks?  We did this one year, instead of buying our parents gifts we used the money for those who had nothing.

I am typing up this post on my own accord because our family believes in this child sponsorship program.  I am also not writing this post to make anyone feel guilty about what we have or where we live.  I am writing this post because I want to share with others who maybe looking for some way to give.  I know there are many programs out there and some of them have given child sponsorship programs a bad name.  I am sharing with you today to let you know that there are places out there doing the work, giving the money you give to the people it’s intended for, being the hands and feet of Jesus.

During this time of celebrating God’s goodness, abundance and grace to us, would you please consider sharing your abundance with someone who has nothing?  More important than food or clothing you will be sharing hope when many of these people have none.  The blessings we are given are not meant to be kept to ourselves but rather to share with others.

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!!!!

Guest Posting, Thanksgiving and a Giveaway

Top of the morning friends! I am going to be working on something today but wanted to drop by and let you know I’m sharing my five favorite pins over at Erin’s blog Clementine & Olive. If you have never been to Erin’s blog, you need to run there, now! She has great style, check out her IKEA hacked nailhead table, it is awesome along with the rest of her house, it is gorgeous and I want to live there! So please stop by and say hi to Erin at Clementine & Olive!

Thanksgiving is coming people, it’s almost here!  Are you ready for some Football?  Oh, wait, what?  Yes, that’s right, my Detroit Lions are playing on Thanksgiving against the dreaded Green Bay Packers and I can’t wait!  Besides watching the game, we will be eating food, don’t worry!

I love this tablescape above, of course because it’s blue and gold with some orangey/coral and birds as well.   I am obsessed I tell you, obsessed!  I posted a beautiful tablescape because I am not doing one this year so I thought this could be our pretend one.  It’s just the hubs and our four kids for Turkey day this year and we’re ok with that. We knew that moving further away from family meant that we wouldn’t see them as much. We used to spend Thanksgiving in Michigan with our families but many things have changed over the years plus traveling with four kids and two dogs just doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun. Maybe next year when we don’t have a 2 year old that just potty trained and still needs to go potty every hour or two.
I am getting really excited for Thanksgiving because I love green bean casserole and can’t wait to eat it all, myself. HA! Although I will miss my mom’s gravy,  I stink at making gravy so that will be one food item missing from our table and I will not buy jar gravy.

YUMMY! Although my GBC never looks that nice.  I like it all mixed together and ugly looking. Then after I eat it all, I will say this:

Because after dinner comes dessert and I’ll want some room for that!  WOO HOO!  Except there will be no pumpkin pie or pumpkin anything at our home, no one likes it!  In fact, we are haters of pumpkin!  Scandalous, I know!

We will have some sort of yummy goodness though, don’t worry! Probably chocolate, the preferred fruit  dessert round here.
Anyways, I’m rambling. There are so many things to be thankful for, God has been more than good to us. I have four healthy beautiful children, a wonderful, loving husband, great friends, a great house, parents who love me, we have food in our cupboards, shoes on our feet, a roof over our head and a God who loves us! What more do we need?

If you have made it this far through this rambling, crazy post, keep going, the end is in sight!!!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and because I love you all, I want to thank you for reading my blog, commenting, encouraging and sharing with me!

I love hearing from you, it makes my day! So as a way of saying thank you, I will be having a giveaway starting on Friday! So come back sometime this weekend and enter to win! I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving making wonderful memories, eating lots of yummy food and spending time with people you love!

Randomness on a Monday

Good Morning friends, just a few quick things to share with you this morning. First off, I’m guest posting today over at Hyphen Interiors for Kristy who’s getting ready to move to another city for her hubby’s job and they already sold their house! So Congrats to them and if you haven’t been over to Hyphen Interiors yet, what are you waiting for? Kristy has a great style and her house is gorgeous! So stop by and tell Kristy hi!

This past weekend was fun filled for our family. Friday night the hubby and I had a double date with out besties. The babysitter had 8 children to watch because we had an extra child with us but she was amazing so no worries for us! We headed out to see Hillsong Live, one of our favorite worship bands, eva! It was general seating but we managed to score some pretty great seats on the main level. I love when the drums are beating so hard you feel it in your body, that’s the best!   I am going to share with you some crappy smart phone pics…..ha! Does anyone know if you can buy a better camera for your phone? Don’t you think that would be a great app, improve my camera phone?

After an incredible night of worship and music, we spent the night at our friends house.  Then it was time to hit the road on Saturday with freezing rain turning to snow.  Thankfully we made it home safe and sound.  The kids were so excited on Sunday morning when we had a dusting of snow outside, they suited up and headed out for a morning and afternoon of outside fun!

They looked so cute with rosy cheeks asking for hot chocolate afterwards.  We ended the day with a family movie night, watching one of my all time favorites, Elf!  The kids only have two days of school this week and then they are off for Thanksgiving.  We are staying home, no one is visiting us this weekend and that’s ok.   We will have fun together as a family, cheering on the Lions as they play the dreaded Packers on Thanksgiving Day.  There will be no black Friday shopping for us this year but maybe we’ll head out on the weekend just for some fun.  What are you all doing?  Anyone shopping on Black Friday?  Or maybe I should ask, is anyone going to not sleep on Thursday  night because the stores are opening so early?

Blooming Blogger: All Things Bright & Beautiful

Good morning my lovely friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend, I know I did, I just wish it didn’t go by so quickly. Can you believe it’s Monday already? Well lucky for you Mondays are a great day at this blog because that’s when I introduce you to a fabulous blog I read and love. So please give a warm welcome to my friend Aubrey from All Things Bright & Beautiful! I love Aubrey’s fun and bubbly personality, she is a real sweetheart and I’m sure you will love her too!  Take it away Aubrey!

Hi all you Bloomin’ readers, it’s Aubrey from All Things Bright and Beautiful! Doesn’t that make you all sound Australian??? No, I guess that just makes me sound Australian (c: Oh yes, Ange is going to be *very* sorry about asking me here today! Mwah hahaha…

Me on the other hand, I’m so excited! I adore Miss Ange and her fantastic blog and ideas…she is a genius, no? (c: And because I love her so much, I am actually going to do what she asked me to for this post! Look, I’m so obedient! (c:

What has been the biggest surprise for you about blogging?
Honestly, how much time it takes!!! I had no idea when I got in to blogging that it would be so time consuming…that being said, I still absolutely love it and all the cool opportunities and friends that it has brought in to my life.
Why did you start blogging?

I think my reason for starting my blog is pretty typical…I needed a getaway! Just a place to talk about only the things I love and want to talk about…*AND* to have great friends that love the same things talk about them with me!
*SCORE*!

Share with us your favorite room or a project you have done and why.
My most recent project was my daughter’s candy corn themed birthday party (how awesome are those cupcakes??? I might be slightly obsessed with cupcakes…)

What is one gift you would like under the tree for yourself this year?

via

That one is EASY! I desperately need an iphone…I am one of the last people in the know universe without a smartphone…it’s getting to be really pathetic. Especially when my children will go and schmooze with their dad for the sole purpose of getting to play with his smartphone…ha!
And plus I really just need an excuse to get a fabulous iphone case (c:
Share with us your favorite pin and why?

This changes pretty much daily…but how could you not love this? It combines two of my favorite things: cupcakes and fashion. Perfection.

Share your favorite holiday recipe or holiday project.
Oh you are *SOOOO* going to hate me for this one because let me tell you, it is *really* addicting…you’re welcome (c:I present to you, Butterscotch Popcorn:

1 3.3oz bag Kettle Corn, popped and all un-popped kernels removed
1 cup butterscotch chips
6 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees and place popped popcorn onto a large rimmed baking sheet that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Place butterscotch chips, butter, brown sugar, karo syrup and salt into a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until mixture comes to a light boil. Remove from heat and pour evenly over popcorn. Gently stir to coat mixture over popcorn.

Remove from oven and pour onto parchment paper to cool. Break into pieces and stuff your face enjoy!!!
Thanks Ange for letting me steal your blog for the day!!!

Thank you Aubrey for stealing it! You didn’t make me sorry at all to have you here, it was great! Also, if you want to send me some of that Butterscotch Popcorn, well, I won’t complain!  You could even make some of those awesome looking cupcakes too!
So head over and say hello to Aubrey, you won’t be sorry!

PS: I’m still looking for a name for this series so all you creative followers help me out and maybe I’ll have a little prize for the winner!

I won! I won! I really won!!!!

I am so excited, picture me doing a happy dance in my kitchen, kind of like a leprechaun mixed with a cotton-eyed joe type dance.

Last week my friend Lisa sent me an e-mail about a Haven Ticket giveaway at Creative Kristi’s Blog.  So I tweeted and entered and waited  impatiently patiently for her to announce the winner on Wednesday.  And then she didn’t.
But today I received a tweet from Creative Kristi while in the church parking lot that said this:

@Bloomingange I announced the winner on my blog ;)

Ok, why did she tweet that to me with a winky face?  Does that mean I won?  No, I doubt it.
I check her blog post and it was ME!   I WON!  I’m going to the HAVEN Conference!

Haven Conference 2012

So who’s going to be there?  I’m so excited to meet so many of you in person and of course to get my blog on.  WOOT WOOT!

This is a truly wonderful day for me, I won a ticket to a blogging conference and  I’m going to see Hillsong in concert tonight, I can’t wait!  Yet, I know that today, a family is burying a 12 year old son.  My emotions are so mixed, high, low, happy, sad. I can’t imagine the heartbreak and tears but amidst that they know, right now there son is in Heaven.  Is there any better place to be?   No sadness, no tears, no pain.  The only ones with sadness, tears and pain are those left here on Earth.  So if you are a praying person, this family could be lifted up today, tomorrow and whenever you think of them.  Thank you!
