Our Family

We are out of town this weekend and have two weddings and a birthday party to celebrate! Yesterday was the first wedding, my mother-in-law/grandma/mom had a small wedding and reception. My hubby played his guitar and sang a song for the lighting of the unity candle. It was a sweet wedding. Here is a picture of our family yesterday.

We have another wedding today so maybe we’ll get another nice family photo.  The bub’s was up most of the night crying so we didn’t get a lot of sleep.  Tomorrow is the birthday party and then we pick up our new puppy, Ruby!  Stay tuned for some pictures!  Hope you have a beautiful Saturday!

Pinterest & Shingles

if you haven’t checked out Pinterest yet, I highly suggest you do. I haven’t figured it all out yet but so far it’s been fun pinning things. I have some invites left so if you want one, please let me know and I’ll gladly send it to you. You can find me on pinterest under my email with google – ange@thebloominghydrangea.com. I would love to follow you as well so if you are on there, let me know!
In other random news, my little bubs has shingles. Of course we are traveling this weekend because we have two weddings and one of them happens to be my mother in law’s so we have to go. He hasn’t complained too much but once in a while he tells me his arm is tickle as he calls it. He has also started scratching it. It’s really ugly looking, I took a few pictures yesterday but it looks much worse today and has spread.

I know it’s uncommon for children to have shingles but when the bubs was a baby he actually ended up with the chicken pox at three weeks old. My youngest daughter actually had shingles at the time and that’s how he ended up with chicken pox. Crazy I know! Thankfully they never bothered her and they don’t seem to bother him much either. I’ve heard that they are quite painful!
In other random news, we are going to go look at some goldendoodle puppies today. I know, we are crazy! With a nice big fenced in backyard I don’t think it will be too bad at the new house. The girls have been begging for a big dog because our schnauzer isn’t very playful or fun which is true, she’s seven years old and would rather sleep than play fetch. So we will see how that turns out. Like we don’t have enough going on with moving, lets add a puppy to the mix! Lol! In case you don’t know us, this is completely normal for our family to be somewhat chaotic and spur of the moment. I’m sure I’ll have some cute puppy pictures to post later even if we don’t end up taking one home!
Finally, nine years ago today, our second daughter was born! It’s so wonderful to see the beautiful girl she is growing into and how much she’s changed over the last year! Happy Birthday E!!!!
I hope you all have a beautiful Friday, I know we will!

A question for you and a link up party!

So I am going to be really sad to leave this kitchen and it’s lovely white cabinets.

Although I love how open the new space is, I am NOT loving the oak.

I know I can paint my cabinets but it’s more than that, then it’s the trim, the doors, etc.  So my question is, does anyone have a great house that they blog about that has oak?  Anyone?  I swear it’s like some sort of requirement to have white trim for blogging about houses/interior design.   So link up if you have oak or know someone who does!

Vintage Bathroom

I’ve been busy packing up this week, I’m hoping to have almost everything packed by next Friday so that when school lets out for the summer, I can hang out with my kids and enjoy all the fun places we went to while we lived here. Plus I think trying to pack with 3 extra children around will be a challenge. I love when the bubs is napping and I can just happily throw things out, put them in the giveaway/garage sale pile or pack them away and there is no one else following behind me complaining or pulling stuff out of piles. So while I’m busy doing that, I thought I’d share with you a few rooms in my house that I haven’t blogged about yet.
Welcome to my vintage bathroom. I actually don’t mind the tiles, they have a certain charm about them and are really in great shape. When we first moved in we replaced the vanity which allowed the door to open all the way. We also tore out the tub surround because we were tired of paint chips falling into the bath when we were using it. This bathroom is not very big and sometimes it gets a little crowded with three girls trying to get ready for school in the morning.  I will be looking forward to bigger bathrooms in the new house but I’m going to miss my vintage green and black tile and the fun slant of the ceiling in the shower area.

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends.  We will be quite busy with two weddings, a grill out and birthday celebration plus some outside projects!   Next week I plan to feature the exterior of our house so stay tuned for that!

Our House Hunting Weekend

Good Morning friends! I hope you are all doing well this morning. My heart, prayers and thoughts are with those who suffered losses in the severe weather yesterday, especially those in Joplin, MO. How devastating! Thankfully we left later than originally planned so we were in a safe location during the storms.
We had a great time this weekend house hunting! In all we looked at eleven houses but only two were real contenders. And wouldn’t you know, my camera battery died after one photo! So unfortunately I don’t have many photos to show you. Boo.
The first house we looked at was our favorite house, it was beyond beautiful!!! We loved it when we saw it online and we loved it even more in person. The kids were with us and they loved it as well.   Inside there is a lot of beautiful white crown molding and picture molding, hardwood floors, six panel doors, a beautiful kitchen, fireplaces,a main floor office and laundry room.  The basement has a family room, bathroom, workshop area and one bedroom.  Upstairs there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms.  The backyard has a gazebo, deck and patio with beautiful landscaping.  The neighborhood has wonderful  mature trees and well kept homes.   Here is the outside:

Our second favorite house is quite different than the first one.  It was in a newer subdivision, has the traditional honey oak trim and lacked the character of the first house.  But it had some things we liked as well like a big fenced in backyard, two bedrooms in the basement with a bathroom, walk out family room and office area for my hubby.  The main floor has a nice open kitchen and family room area with a fireplace and a walk out deck.   Upstairs are three bedrooms with two bathrooms.  The house is on a street that ends in a cul de sac and has a lot of nice looking homes as well.  Here is the outside:

So to make a long story short, we loved loved loved house number one.  Like wipe the drool off our faces type of love.  The drawbacks were the price and somewhat the location.  We went to the real estate office, typed up offers on both houses and then submitted an offer on house number one.  While we were writing the offer I felt sick to my stomach, anxious and just knew in my heart that something wasn’t right about the whole thing.  After we left, I told hubby that I was hoping they rejected our offer.  He said he felt the same way and we decided to pull our offer on house number one.  We still are not quite sure why but we just didn’t feel right about it.  We then submitted our offer on house number two and within three hours we had it accepted!  WOO HOO!
Sunday morning hubby was awake earlier than usual and had a little bit of a freak out about the house.  He couldn’t remember a lot of the details because it was number six on the tour of eleven houses.  He was thinking we maybe had made a big mistake.  We called our realtor and scheduled another showing on our house.  After walking through again we both felt a lot better about our house.   Here are a few pictures of the outside from yesterday with green grass.  The backyard photos were taken from the master bedroom inside so there is a slight glare.

Here are a few inside photos.

As soon as we move at the end of June, I will post more pictures.  Sorry I didn’t have more pictures to share from this weekend but it was a crazy time but so fun!  If I could chose a career I would seriously think about becoming a real estate agent!  Hope you had a great weekend, I’ll be posting later this week my old school bathroom that I really do love!

Breaking News……

Hello friends! Hope you enjoyed a lovely weekend, I know we sure did. The sun has been out for a few days in a row here without rain and now today has been nothing but rain! Which is ok because I’ve been busy painting a bathroom and other miscellaneous stuff around the house. This weekend the hubby and I were busy mulching, landscaping, running to Menards at least two times a day and also finishing the siding on the garage. We’ve been going gangbusters over here on the house because we are putting a big fat For Sale sign in the yard in the next week or two!!!! A lot has transpired the past three weeks but I really couldn’t say anything until it was official.

Hubby and I have lived in this town for 12 years, we moved here right after he graduated from college. We never ever thought we would be here this long but here we are twelve years later. We have tried to move away at least two other times but God clearly shut the door both times. Thank goodness He did because the one company we almost went to work for went bankrupt! Anyways, to make a long story short, hubby is keeping his job and will be telecommuting from our new city! In case you don’t know, hubby is a computer programmer/analyst so he can easily work from home. He has been blessed with an awesome job with very very good benefits and that’s not something we want to leave, we are very thankful for his job! Hubby and I knew that if we were going to ever leave this place, it was now or never. Our oldest daughter is in 4th grade and it’s already hard for her to leave her friends and classmates and it will only be harder with each year that passes. This time it really feels as if God has been opening the doors and we are looking forward to see what life has in store for us in the next year!

So I won’t be blogging or emailing much in the next few weeks as we knock off a lot of items on our list so we can put the sign in the yard and then hopefully we will be busy showing the house or packing because we had an offer the first day! (A girl can dream, right?) I hope you will stick around and join us our this adventure in the next few months!

I do have a dining room reveal coming up this week though so stay tuned for that! I also might just show you a few other rooms in our house over the next few weeks as well because they’ll be all fresh and pretty!

Happy Mother’s Day, hope your day is full of love, appreciation and joy!

Blooming Blogger May Edition

Good afternoon friends!  The sun is shining and I couldn’t be happier because yesterday there were actual snow flakes floating in the air, on May 3rd, ridiculous!!!
Today I want to introduce you to this month’s Blooming Blogger and my friend,  Andrea from Our Blue Front Door, doesn’t she look so pretty in this picture?

I thought it would be fun to ask Andrea a few questions so you could get to know her a little better.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging when I found all those wonderful design blogs and quickly realized they were a lot like me.  They had the same kind of passion for decorating their homes that I did AND doing it on a budget.  I thought if they can do then so can I, and I am so glad I did.  I’m excited to have this creative outlet to share my love with everyone.
What is your favorite blog post you’ve ever done?
All of them, no I think it’s a tie between my pantry redo and my picture wall.  The picture wall was such an accomplishment for me and I still smile when I look up at it.
What is something that not a lot of people know about you?
Humm, this question is hard!  I have an interior design degree, but really have never done much with it.  I took the class “history of furniture” in college and dropped it because it was soooo boring, now I wish I would have stuck it out :)
Andrea did a great sofa table makeover for her living room and all she used was some good old fashioned spray paint, one of my favorite things in the world is spray paint!!!!!

Isn’t it gorgeous?  To see what it looked like before, head on over and check it out here!

She also did a fabulous job creating a picutre gallery wall in her living room!  She even included step by step instructions in her post so if you are thinking of doing a gallery wall, check out Andrea’s post!

Andrea also has some other great posts to check out like her Pantry Makeover and her Easy Art she made so stop on over to Our Blue Front Door and say hi.  You won’t be sorry you did!!!

I need your help

Alright, I am down to window treatments in the dining room and I’ve been having a stink of a time trying to find something I like. When I picked the black and white fabric for the chairs I didn’t really think we’d do board and batten. Well, we did and now the table base and chairs are white, the walls are 2/3 white and the walls are blue/green. So I found two fabrics that I like that go well together, so do I recover the chairs with one of the new fabrics? Try and use both in this room along with the black and white chair fabric? Here are pictures of the chair fabric now with both fabrics. Let me know what you think, I’d love some feedback!!!!
